Greetings to the marvalous community of the fallout universe! Now ive had about a 5 month break from fallout 3 for skyrim and wanted to have another dive back into the future in fallout 3. I have my mod list with what i was using 5 months ago and was wondering if someone can tell me if there still good or used or if theres something better thats replaced a mod or two.

Also is fallout mod manager still the "in" manager to use? or have people moved to NMM? which skyrim now uses. I will probably start a new game on fallout but am looking for an alternate start mod so i can really have a hardcoe role playing character. I will use or have used arwens realism tweaks and will search the wikia etc for roleplaying tips or guides on potential role playing characters.

Anyway heres my current mod list which hasnt been updated in the last 5 months: :bunny:

Welcome back!

Yes FOMM is still the go-to utility for installing mods if you're not using BAIN installers for Wrye Flash, NMM is still beta I think and has issues from what I read.

From your mod list, Dynamic Weather has been updated and so has Arwen's tweaks. You already have it but if you go looking for Project Beauty again it has been renamed to Fallout 3 Redesigned to match New Vegas Redesigned (same author).

Thank you!

Oh ok thats good, no, as impressive as bain and wrye flash, bash etc is, i have no intention of using that. Yes NMM is still in beta which i use for skyrim but its not in the slightest as advanced as FMM. The only thing it has which is better is the real time updates for mods as it is directly connected to the nexus. Can FMM do that at all? as there is a web version tab but it has never worked...
(also occasionally FMM stops and says something bad has happened, i rememer it doing that before occasionally, any fix?)

Ok thanks for that info about those updates, will prob update them asap.

Thanks again!

Nice avatar btw, scary but nice.

I wouldn't know that about FMM, I've only just read a few things about it. I never intend to use it as I'm perfectly happy with BAIN and FOMM

If you haven't already you might want to look through my post http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1356837-im-looking-for-a-lot-of-mods/page__view__findpost__p__20460683 and see if there's any mods there you have yet to try.

A fair warning, that alternate start mod has some issues. I recently discovered that there are certain areas in the game world that are blocked off by invisible barriers that shouldn't be there. One in particular is right in front of GNR.

Now, these barriers do exist in the vanilla game and are normally disabled however the author of Alternate Start seems to have used and altered the script which disables these barriers. Instead you now get a message, "You should search this room first..." and the invisible barriers remain in place, blocking your character.

The message is supposed to only play when you're in the start shack for Alternate Start and not show up again.

I've hopefully made the necessary changes the mod to prevent this from happening. I've also did some cleaning as well if you want to test it out. Hate to you see start a new game and eventually run into those barriers and go "WTF?!"

Here's the http://www.4shared.com/archive/2ZnxPAfx/file.html You'll still need the original mod, just overwrite the .esp.

Ok thanks for the warning ghost, i'll give your change a go aswell i think. Thanks :) but as i havent played it in a while im going through the vault start one more time :)
just wondering what roleplay character to go for. And when i use the alternate start mod, for more immersion i'll think i'll need to skip the main quest otherwise it will feel strange knowing i havent started in the vault.
