The Road, The Postman(ugg), book of Eli.

For a good book, that is not post apocalyptic, but could give an idea what murdering raiders could be like: Blood Meridian.

In a more sci-fi way you could include planet of the apes, and beneath the planet of the apes for some psyker ghouls.

For strange government wtf, but not post apoc there is Brazil.

You should probably see a doctor for that horrible cough.

Not really reminiscent of Fallout, but if you want a good Post-Apoc Movie you may want to check out Waterworld since it seems you're asking for general Post-Apoc movies. :)

I am looking for decent post apoc movies to watch

The Quiet Earth
Stalker (to a point)

Both being more of artistic movies going for concepts and deeper understandings of the setup (Stalker being the better and more insightful if you have the wits to interpret it correctly) rather than starightforward visualization. [censored] great movies, and I'd put them both in the same line with The Roadwarrior as far as postapoc entertainmentvalue goes, Stalker even further overall.

Stalker is more of a localized apocalypse, but it has the look for sure, and its a really really good movie, if you can stand slow paced movies like 2001 A Space Odyssey that is.

The Omega Man and others spinning from I Am Legend's novel form was an influence for FO1. Presumbly for how someone isolated and alone other than predators around them, how their mental state becomes, and being trapped in the environment.

The Road didn't "inspire" Fallout though 3 and NV could of had some influence from the novel or movie. But if you want post apoc stuff it's both a pretty good read and watch.

As a side note I've always wanted to watch Stalker. Largely due to the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series

I did he told me to watch:
City of lost children (for setting and mentioned by FO1 staff as inspiration)
and now I think about it (though the comic !!! is the way to go)
Watchmen... as painting alternative history... (but for the rest except for the nuclear bomb/cold war angst has near to zero to do with FO)
(actually the comic could have been an inspiration telling much of the alternative history via in comic comics, news reports etc.)
