DVD Cleaning Disks

(I'm hoping to be posting this in the correct forum, if not, I'm sorry...) Is it recommended that PS3 owners use DVD cleaning disks once in awhile (or ever..?) I've had my PS3 for about 3 years now and have simply wondered about this. Thanks, gang.
