so when i bought the Ultimate Edition i was pretty pumped because it specifically said we could use game saves from the original edition to load in the ultimate edition.

then, when i went to load my previous save it didn't exist. i checked my saved data utility and found it was definitely there. then i figured it out...

i live in canada. my game saves for the original all say "(US)" at the end of the title. my game saves for the ultimate edition all say "(CAN). when i bought my original copy (which i traded in to buy the Ultimate one), i got it in the collector's edition. however, i bought my ultimate edition at the same store i bought the original at (and it's a physical retail store in canada).

i'm gonna call the store and see if there's anything they're willing to do, but i think it's pretty short-sighted for Bethesda to release the US version of the disc in all the collector's editions. i doubt they read any of the threads here, but i'd love it if they'd be willing to remedy the problem for me, somehow.

what i suspect (and pretty much know) is going to happen is that the store i bought it at is going to blame the publisher and, if i ever bothered to contact Bethesda, they'd no doubt either blame the store or the distributor.

so i'm pretty much screwed on this one.

Can you copy it to a USB drive, rename it and copy it back?

I think I'm having the same problem. I even had this exactly problem with Fallout 3 and Fallout 3 GOTY edition... I'm assuming I bought an American copy and a Canadian copy which don't create compatible save files for some reason. It's not like we speak a different language, why are there 2 different versions?

So if I get an American version of Ultimate Edition I should be alright? Is that even possible?
