Slower Leveling Mod?

Post » Wed Nov 18, 2009 12:33 pm

I did an extensive search at Planet Elder Scrolls, but couldn't find what I was looking for.

I am looking for a mod that slows leveling down, if not, completely stops it. I'd like to rely on trainers to level up.
I coulda swore there were mods that covered this, but perhaps I am thinking of Oblivion.

Can anyone point me in the direction of such a mod?

Thanks!

I'm quite sure there is no such a mod, only those who change other aspects of leveling, but non of them STOPS it.

There is very quick and easy way of doing this in CS, you can do it yourself actually. I'd do it for you, but currently I'm having some problems with making Morrowind work on my PC.

Anyway, it's been a while since I had a look in the editor, but I think it's like this-

Up on the toolbar go to Character, then Skills (if not Character, then anything where you'll find skills).
For each skill there is a value of how much it will raise per which action. You can decrease those numbers, and 0 is, of course, no raise when you perform. Then you simply save it, name the mod, and I'll guess you know how to activate mods since you use them.

Hope this helps :)

I play the game without trainers.
THAT will make your levels go up slower. ;)

well i just installed an economy mod which is supposed to greatly decrease fundage, as well as made the trainers cost 5 times more. THAT will make me earn my levels. My problem wasn't the speed of level learning (frankly I can clear everything out on the mainland and be nowhere near maxed). I am just looking for something different. If I have to go search out trainers and collect funds in a monetarily deficient world, that will help give me something to do that has a purpose. And I will have to train my levels wisely by picking the most helpful skills to keep me on par with the creatures.

I was looking for exactly the same when I returned to playing MW.
http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1008425&hl= thread should help. I now play with GCD and approx X7 slow down rate.

I made an ESP with 0 learning, but it messed up my menu system by adding extra characters before the words. So I am guessing that there is a conflict with it and another mod or something.

That sounds like GMST contamination.
Have a look at http://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&source=web&ct=res&cd=1&ved=0CAcQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.uesp.net%2Fwiki%2FTes3Mod%3ATESTool&rct=j&q=testool+1.3&ei=gCmHS6StA4WVtgfyq_SdDw&usg=AFQjCNGHKMzEDSrpkrRYyjnCQosaVLTELg for info on how to clean your esp.

there is one. the name is "more morrowind" and slows down levelling. but i only found the http://home.freiepresse.de/anros/ultimategamer/download/tes3/more_morrowind.7z of it.

since there should only the skill and talents names be translated, maybe you can do it on your own via cs :)

Unfortunately, that actually made things worse :) The extra characters are still there, but now I don't lose any fatigue from running. Heh
I'll just have to deal with the extra characters in the menus with this new character.
Not gaining training by practicing is proving to be very tough at level 1!

Don't get it, what characters you get? You only changed values of skills and nothing else in that ESP, right? I lowered/raised mine for test purpose millions of times, and never had such outcomes

I predominantly get a lowercase S before a lot of the stuff in the title bars

You'll quickly find your game unplayable with major GMST contamination, so don't use the esp you created unless you clean it properly.
There are other tools that will clean your mod but I personally feel TESTool which I linked you to earlier is the easiest to learn and understand if your new to modding.

I did run the TES tool on it, but it did not improve anything.

Did you check Morrowind.esm in the CS? Looks like you modified the skills without loading a ESM file. The CS put all 607 GMSTs into your esp file, so it looks like this is your problem.

EDIT: I made a plugin for you: http://digi-thal.de/~fallenwizard/temp/FW_NoSkillLeveling.esp

I didn't check anything. The directions above didn't say to lol :)
I did a quick load of the esp and didn't see any errors. I'll have to play some more tomorrow to make sure. But thanks. This will give me another way to play if the economy mod really will keep the cash flow down. So far i've been able to collect about 8000 gold in short order, although that's pretty much all i've done. But I think it will be ok. If I get too much gold i'll just have to control my advancing. But at least now I CAN control how I advance. The hardest part is figuring out what skill to advance when it costs 500 at level 20. Going up just 1 level and I will be back to broke.
Fast travel also costs like 500 so I have had to walk everywhere too.
And I'm using morrowind advanced, so all the creatures are hella harder too. It certainly is an adventure at low levels!

Thanks for your help!

There are more alternate levelling systems around if you search for 'em.
