Use of Unbound Daedric Items

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 3:52 am

So, how exactly common is the use of Daedric materials? What nations use them the most? I know Akavir has Daedric stuff, because in Morrowind one of the rewards for a quest is a daedric katana said to be an Akaviri original. Still, you never hear of any non-Daedra non-player character dude using Daedric weapons and armour other than Divayth Fyr. How much money and prestige must one have in order to buy a Daedric item? Do the most elite soldiers use Daedric material on the battlefield? Is it taboo to use Daedric weapons and armour in a Daedra-hating society such as Skyrim or the Summerset Isles?

Daedric material is going to be very rare. You'd have to really know a lot of well connected people or be really wealthy in order to actually have some. There's a reason why DF was the only one in Morrowind to have it, and it should have been only seen in the elite of the dremora army in Oblivion.

If you also noticed, daedric armor in Skyrim is never really to be found at all, unless you are a high level smith.

Remember, it is ebony infused with a daedra, and the pained look in the material is a testament to how painful it is for the daedra in question.

It was. Although their armour looked identical, only the Valkynaz had proper Daedric Armour, the other Dremora having weaker non-lootable copies.

It was avoid the issue of marauders wearing daedric armor :stare:

Oh, as for it being taboo, I'd image so, though not AS much as holding an artifact. One would most certainly be very feared. As for the mortals using it, not all that likely. Only the most powerful of heroes will be wearing it, which is why only the PC of each game ends up really wearing it, with DF being the only NPC (outside of OB's terrible loot system).

Otherwise, ebony armor will be what the most elite of the elite will wear.

I wonder if you could infuse other things, like human souls or Magne-Ge.

Daedric weapons are just ebony weapons infused with the heart or essence of a daedra.

Thats actually another reason why the dunmer call it Godsbleed because you can literally craft powerful weaponry from it, even daedric weapon.

Well, ebony on Tamriel is Shor/Shezarr/Lorkhan's blood. Also, it's Godsblood.

Daedric weapons are just ebony weapons infused with the heart or essence of a daedra.

This. THe hardst part is getting the actual heart/essence, and a smith with the skill to make it. Theoretically, any nation with a higher-than-average ratio of spellcasters would have more daedric equipment, but they'd need a source of Ebony AND Daedric armor is only heavy armor- a bane to any caster who isn't a battlemage.

In reality, no nation will use Daedric equipment the "most," unless we're talking a few percentage points compared to the others. It's just too hard to make, and too expensive to be anything but a custom-order peice by someone who wants the highest quality weapon/heavy armor they can get.

I always thought magma was the blood of an Et'Ada, and solidified it is Ebony and Malachite. The Deadlands are filled with lakes of blood-magma, caused by every war wound Dagon felt, explaining how the Dremora have such a good Ebony supply for their Daedric weapons.

The fact is no nation would be able to arm their guards and soldiers with Daedric weapons and armor, the cost is too high, getting the essences, getting a very skilled enchanter/smith/spellcaster and finally the amount of ebony you need would be too much, even Morrowind wouldn't be able to fund it and they have like...the largest amount of ebony weapons and armor on tamriel.

Now a nation having a group or secret sect might be able to give them daedric weapons if the nation or party funding said group is rich or powerful enough.

Also I have a theory on the weapons the dremora use, what if their weapons are really just an extension of themselves? Like when a Dremora comes back from being killed they have to use their own essence to make themselves a new weapon as a right to serve in Mehrunes Dagon's army.

That's probably what the weaker armor is.

Am I not remembering this correctly or was there a group of Dunmer called Ebony Knights that were fully outfitted in Ebony? I remember a book and it was not a modded game.

There is no such group, even in a book. Unless you got the book readily on hand, I cannot find it in my searches.

There probably were Dunmeri mercenaries that wore ebony or used ebony weapons.

The arena master in Vivec mentions that as
A high elf he prefers ebony to Daedric, as his affinity to magic causes him to be able to feel the daedra's suffering.

The use of Daedric material is very common and even lousy bandits have it. I have played Oblivion.

I would imagine that the amount of Daedric equipment temporarily spiked during the Oblivion Crisis.
