A little something I'm sure Daggerfall fans will enjoy

I'm not trying to advertise this guy's site (As far as I know it's gone) but I ran into some amazing remakes of classic Daggerfall tracks on Youtube and thought I'd share them with you.

What do you think? :D

These are pretty good, but TBH I never thought the original tracks were very good anyway. If there's one thing that the later games in TES have over Daggerfall, it's music - Jeremy Soule did an excellent job with Morrowind and Skyrim.

Really liking these soundtracks Gheart.

Jeremy Soule did a great job with the soundtrack. The reason I prefer the soundtracks from Daggerfall is because they've got such character and feeling, while most of Skyrim's soundtrack leans more towards the ambient/minimalistic side of background music. The two different styles are both amazing, but in the end it comes down to preference, and if I could choose I would want Skyrim to have more of an "old-school" BGM feel. I'm still very pleased with Soule's work though, as I said earlier, and I think it's current soundtrack fits the game well.

I remember Robert Hood making these a few years back when Interrupt was working on his DF remake game. Interrupt's game never got further than a demo and he disappeared off the face of the earth, and Robert also disappeared one day and was never heard from again. Certainly made some nice tracks though.

I see at least on person followed my link from that poll thread :P

Still think remake versions of some of these tracks like this would fit into Skyrim.

I used the winter tracks in Oblivion with one of those mods that lets you customize music by region/weather. It was sweet. :D

"A Theme to Shop By" is not the shop theme; it's an outdoor town song you hear while looking for shops. :P The bards in Skyrim play it sometimes, which is a sweet pile of awesome.

Seriously? I've only ever heard them play stuff like Ragnar the Red. :P

The http://xlengine.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=48 is also a great place to find DF music remixes. Threw them all on my ipod and now I'm happy. Listening to oversnow while trudging across the snowy campus = awesome.

Dan Goodale's remixes are great. He was also kind enough to give me permission to use them in Ruins of Hill Deep, so a nice guy in addition to being a talented musician.

I have all of these on my iPod. They are very well done recordings. I wish he had done that for all of the Daggerfall music.

Damn. I have always liked his DF remake music, it's sad to hear that he disappeared. He really did a great job with those tracks and I used to have them in my various Morrowind and Oblivion music folders for variety. In Daggerfall they were more atmospheric to what was happening in game, like snow, rain or daytime, nightime, etc.

Lots of nostalgia in those tracks for me. ;)

There was another Daggerfall remake in the works more recently - http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/11/18/mods-and-ends-daggerfall-the-xl-engine/ Looks like he's made a great deal of progress on it.

I've seen these on Youtube before, but, I forgot the title and whatnot. Thanks for bringing this up, mate. The music in previous games to Skyrim is what I miss, y'know? Wonder if I can put these on the game.

They seem to play it very rarely. I heard it once and nearly shot my drink all over my screen. It didn't play again while I was hanging around the Bannered Mare so I downgrabbed a BSA unpacker and confirmed I wasn't hallucinating.

The version the bards play is slower and arranged for a single guitar. It's quite a nice piece and doesn't betray its roots as energetic town music.

I noticed that a while back as well! It's like a slower, more somber version of "A Theme to Shop By"

They also play drums or flute occasionally.
