question about Baladas' gift

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 11:25 pm

Spoiler below:
Spoiler
Baladas gave me his Centurion. Will the Centurion teleport with me as I scoot around Vvardenfel? If not, does it catch up with me eventually? Is there a way to instruct it to switch to guard duty or patrol rather than join me as I go around the island? It's cool to have your own personal bodyguard, but I would rather it stay put in one place until I want it to accompany me.

I believe it can travel with you via boat or silt strier, but not recall or intervention spells.

EDIT: I fired up the game, and I dont have any saves at that point, I still need to finish that quest. Try "talking" to it and see if you can have it remain there.

I forgot to post that I did try talking with it. It looked at me like a puppy that doesn't understand a word you're saying

It did travel with me by silt strider. It could not get down the stairs at the Ald'Ruhn Mages Guild when I tried to take it to Edwinna to have a look. I figured she would fall head over heels in love with it. At least it did not go berserk in the Mage Guild when I used the guild guide to go elswhere.

You have given me an idea, though. I may try to see if I can buy a custom made spell to target something like recall, Almsivi intervention or Divine Intervention on either target or touch. That would be interesting  Idle thought - what would be the reaction of guards to all of a sudden come face to face with a hostile daedra?

Haha, great idea, although I don't think it's possible to get those spells other than on Self. :( And yeah, the Centurion can't be interacted with and it follows you at least with Silt Striders. It's easy to lose though because it has trouble with e.g. stairs and bridges. :I

I just discovered that :( Yet one can have a custom made spell to cast levitate on another. I did that to get a person I was escorting out of a place where she had gotten stuck.

Heh, I use a targeted 1 second levitate spell for a certain pesky creature.

The centurion follows you all over Vvardenfell until it is broken. By default you can't give it any commands nor you can repair it. It's more like a dog who is following you all the time, except that the centurion also fight during the following.
If you want to let the centurion stay somewhere at one place and also be able to repair it, then you need Vorwoda the Black's shock centurion companion mod. That mod alters the original "companion" you get and you can now give the centurion commands, you can improve it and also be able to repair it.
