Reduced Strength rating for no apparent reason advice please

Morning All

I seem to have developed a rather annoying glitch in my game and I'm hoping someone here can help me to get it sorted.

I was on my way to Hla Oad along the coast when I came across a tomb.

I F5'd and entered a tomb where a Greater Bonelord (?) proceeded to kill me, infecting me with something that zapped my strength in the process. (It said I was over encumbered and a quick check on my profile showed my Str in red at a reduced rate).

I decided that I would F9 and go get a couple of Cure Disease potions the head back there to have another go which is what I did.

The problem I find however is that about 60 seconds after restarting the game my Str gets zapped for some unknown reason and I get over encumbered again. I've checked my stats, Str in red at reduced rate but in the magic section nothing shows as me having any sickness.

I've dumped my kit so I can travel to the Temple at Balmora to get cured but thats says negative to Common, Blight or Poisen, I'll be honest I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to do.

I'd rather not have to go back to a previous quest as that will mean losing about 2 hours of game play, is there anything I can do via the console i.e return my Str to its previous rating? I havent levelled up since this happened so on my last main save it has the right Str.

What could have caused this to happen or is it just glitch tastic?

Cheers All :)

Your Strength has been drained. (you don't need to have a disease or active spell on you for that to happen)
Drink a Restore Strength potion, or use an Imperial shrine to restore attributes.

As to why it happened for no reason the second time... that is odd.

Your strength has been DAMAGED, which is a different effect to a drain. A drain is temporary and lasts only as long as the spell. A damage is permanent and works more like a damage health spell.

EG

Drain Strength 20 points for 5 seconds means that for 5 seconds your strength is 20 points lower.

Damage Strength 20 points for 5 seconds means that for 5 seconds your strength is reduced by 20 permanently each second, resulting in you having 0 at the end of the spell.

Ah, yes. That is what I meant.
Thanks for correcting. :)

Tes Quicksave/Quickloads have a reputation for not being reliable. It looks to me like a stat change which was made after the Quicksave (the bonewalker's Damage Strength effect) was retained in memory. In future, you might try quitting the game, then reloading the Quicksave, to see if that clears the problem.

Yeah, Lesser Bonewalkers do DRAIN strength, while Greater Bonewalkers do DAMAGE strength, making them one of the most dangerous undead out there, and IMO one of the best minions to summon. Always try to fight them from a distance, carry restore strength potions, or if they're summoned, just avoid them and kill their summoner.

They're the best to summon until you actually hit them, and then BAM there goes your own strength. :(

Evil bonewalkers. Also keep in mind, that you cant restore a damaged attribute while anything is fortifying that attribute. Its very irritating when you start making 1-47 enchants on everything.
