Hi,
I'm very new to Morrowind. Just started today actually, I've played both Oblivion and Skyrim on PS3..and really looking to play on PC. I would like to give myself a little boost to get started. And tried entering the fallowing into the console.
player-> additem "gold_100" 12345

i have tried it without player-> with and without spaces, without " and several different amounts.
When I hit enter, it keeps the console up, but brings up my stats, and inventory. I've also tried hitting the space bar, as that seems to be how I activate everything else in the game...but all this does, is add spaces..obviously.
I've tried hitting ~ to exit, and come back to it.. nothing. And I'm not getting an ERROR message, nor is it turning the text blue..or showing ANYTHING to say its worked...

So please..tell me..what am I doing wrong?!! Also, If it matters I have Tribunal, and BloodMoon.. installed with it..

I've never used that ID for gold before, and you may be hitting the limit as to how much of an item you can spawn through the console. Instead try;

player-> addItem, gold_001 10000

Just loaded up Morrowind and I tried it with both gold_001 and gold_100 and both worked for me. You do need a space after AddItem, so it knows what code you want, and after gold_001, so it knows the item. I tried it without spaces, and it gave me error messages. I accomplished it with and without quotes. My stats/inventory only come up when the console is open when I right click.
And as I was experimenting, this might be the problem, I went into options, and then to controls, and changed Menu Mode to the enter button. I go into the console, type in the code, and hit enter, no effect. Hitting it a second time opens up my stats/inventory, with no increase in gold. If the enter key is bound to the menu mode, this may be your problem. If this is the case, try changing it to something else. I use Right Click myself. If this doesnt solve it, well then I'm not sure. Best of luck.

Cheating off the console is a bad habit to start on and can ruin the game. That said, I do like to have a healthy starting gold stash. I created my Pelagiad Provisions with a few secrets, like a stash of 5000 gold. It is also good for initial equipping. (The key to vault one is hidden in the plant pots upstairs)

Then, you can make a trip to Ald-ruhn where a home is built for you. It has a stash of gold and some gemstones to help you blast an early start.

Thank you guys very much, for all your help! I was a little worried how fast I would get a responce, you guys are on it!!
I don't want to cheat too much no..I agree about it ruining the game. However, since I am finding this to be very overwelming..I figure a little gold to start might help ease the 'stress'
I'll load it up now and see if your tips will work for me! And yes, that sounds like that may be my problem..
