One more question, while im here. It says on the uesp that sanctuary is percent to dodge, but since i get hit so often i dont think its so. Also some people say that with 100pts sanctuary youll still get hit. What do you guys think? And do you think shield is better for protection? Im a pure mage but have light armor in minor
Chance to Hit = Attack bonus + 1.25(Weapon skill + Agility/5 + Luck/10) - [Sanctuary bonus + 1.25(Agility/5 + Luck/10)]
The second part of the above formula is called the "Dodge" formula.
Obviously your Sanctuary bonus would have to be fairly large to overcome your enemy's weapon skill. Sometimes 100 points sanctuary would not be enough.
Shield increases Armor Class which would decrease damage, not cance to hit.
I've always thought that the best protection is to kill your enemies quickly and, if possible, from a distance.
I think magic has a stacking formula that is something like if you have 50 points of sanctuary on a peice of gear and 50 on another it would add up to be 75% total not 100%.

I thought this was the case with spell absorbtion only?

I'm not completely certain I thumbed the uesp wiki and didn't notice anything about it. I wouldn't go too overboard on sanctuary if you plan on leveling light armor up passively, you'll need to get hit for it to level up unless you use a trainer to train it actively.
