Post » Thu May 03, 2012 10:47 pm

Hi All,

Continuation of my http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1365346-skyrim-panorama-8k-resolution/page__p__20603351#entry20603351 thread, have a look at some panoramas I created for Morrowind, as part of my Ph.D. in Virtual Environment Design easily my favourite TES game, that simply
blew me away on playing it, and confirmed my passion for exploring & finding new natural environments in games, Hope you enjoy them!

I have to admit that I though these screenshots would be lame at first.

But they really are very very good, what is your resolution? :o

Glad you liked them, thanks!

The Morrowind pano's I think was captured at 1680x1050( i think I used the FPS optimzer to select the high res) , but in game I had to rotate the camera manually and capture several shots(normally around 26-30), then stitch in Autopano Giga, then do some tweaks and fix ups(branches misaligned etc...) in Photoshop, final resolution is around 8000x2500 to 5500x2000, I was quite proud of how a few of them really captured Morrowind's environments, which at the time were(although a bit bland.....) a major USP for me....

You should try and capture a panorama using some of the more popular graphical overhauls, like MGSO. I think that would be impressive, but hopefully your computer would be able to handle somewhat high settings!

I'm on it! thanks will take a look......

(EDIT) wow just took a look at the MGSO mod, beautiful! wow!!!! love this shot...

I wanted to capture the Vanilla games, some amazing mods out there but if I explored them all I'd probably end up never completing the PhD!

, my system is an i7 920@ 4.2GHz(3.6 OC), Asus R2E, 16GB DDR3 Corsair Dominator RAM, a couple of v fast HD's and an 280GTX SLI(with a new lovely 580GTX SLI rig at work!) , manages to run The Witcher 2 on full setting inc SSAO & ubersampling, so fingers crossed should be ok!

Need to reinstall my Morrowind GOTY as it's on my old xp PC, but will hopefully have some up soon...

4.2 GHz? Or was that a typo, since you get 3.6 overclock I'd assume it doesn't go down, lol. Either way that's quite the rig you have there, I doubt you'll have any trouble with MGSO!

yep sorry I'm talking rubbish it's a i7 920 3.2(stock) running at 4.2ghz, got lucky with all the components(CPU was from a d0 golden batch) a good cooling rig, and 2 weeks to do nothing but benchmark & test the OC's! MGSO looks fab, but the install is quite long!

It's shorter than it used to be. Now it's just an exe you can run and it automatically installs it while you give input on your computer's specs or what features you want to better tailor the install. It probably takes 5-10 minutes now, and most of that is just waiting at the end while the game generates Distant Lands.

Pre 2.0 it didn't have an installer, and you had to go through a rather torturous process by following complicated steps in a 16 minute YouTube video.

Now isn't that amazing looking? I bet if you posted it as a 'leaked' screenshot from the unannounced Skyrim DLC a lot of people would believe it.

There are some pretty nice spots in the Grazelands, and outside of Ald Ruhn or Mar Gaan provided you choose the 'less branchy' Ashlands trees. There's a kind of really 'grim beauty' to the Ashlands in this mod.

North Eastern Solstheim has nice scenery ,and there is a lot of spectacular landscaping in the Tamriel Rebuilt mod.

Have a look at the screenshots for the http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1344967-rel-mountainous-red-mountain/page__fromsearch__1 mod

For someone with an interest in panoramas , i would recommend looking at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_egQWfKEtAE&feature=plcp&context=C4b855b2VDvjVQa1PpcFPQXUWJ3QUwKRUyIL_d75rsBGcwowHXoQI%3D

Would you like to make some beautiful screens (because I need you are very good at it) to be used as officials for MGSO?
Obviously you will be credited for that. :)

I like the fact that you captured "vanilla". The art style of morrowind is still up there imo.
