Why wouldn't you? You already own the game. There's no risk involved in re-installing the game and trying it again. If you don't like it, uninstall it.

Oh yes - there are enough visual mods around now to make it look almost modern, and the content and gameplay knock the socks off the later games.

Yes. It's the one you'll come back to again and again.

Most, or at least many, will come back again and again. A few players just don't like the mechanics, though, and prefer player-based rather than character-based skill systems: FPS rather than RPG. Personally, I'd say "try it again with mods"; it's already paid for. The worst things that can happen are that you'll either dislike it and waste a few hours of your time, or that you'll absolutely love it and waste months.

This. I love oblivion and skyrim but bought morrowind for PC recently after only having played the xbox version and love it! I only use about 5 mods and it's perfect for me but there are folks who run hundreds.

Do it. To be quite honest, morrowind was pretty much my first RPG and it took me a few years (and installs) to really get into it. That's the compromise I guess. Way more easy to pick up the newer games, but when you're engrossed they lack some of the things that made the older games, harder to pick up, but also awesome.
