Show Played Time in Morrowind?

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 12:27 pm

I recently started playing Morrowind and the only thing that bugs me is that there is nothing showing me how long I've been playing the game. I'm kind of OCD about that and enjoy knowing how much time I've invested into a game.

Is there any way to see how long you've been playing? Is there any mod that allows this? So far I just see that it shows how many days have passed since you started and what time you last saved.

I use this
http://www.elricm.com/nuke/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=viewdownloaddetails&lid=442

Notethat if you die, the time resets to your previous load time, but it is better than nothing.

I use that too, but it doesn't stop counting when I'm in pause menu or other menus.

What do you mean previous load time? When you last saved? Don't all do this? Just curious.. I'm going to definitely give this a shot. Thank you so much.

I was curious about this to but I'm trying not to worry about it. The point of this game is to immerse yourself in a world where you can be and do anything you want worrying about the amount of real time invested just seems to take away from that.

Yeah but like I said I'm just a bit OCD about it and would like to know how much my character has lived and progressed in the game, that's a part of the role-playing for me.

It'll tell you how many days your character has been on Vvardenfell. You can use math to convert that into real time hours. It's either 2 or 3 seconds per in game hour.

So far the Dwemer counter is working great! Thanks again and also for the math tip in case all else fails I can fall back on that.

Can you clarify this? Even at 3 seconds per in game hour that means an in game day takes just over a minute.

I was wondering about that as well... but it's probably pretty simple to figure out how long a day is in Morrowind, hm?

If your save game says you're at 500 days, you take that number and multiply it by 24, which gives you in-game hours (12000). Take that number and multiply by 3 and you get the real time seconds you've playing Morrowind (36000). Divide by 60 to get real time minutes (600). Divide by 60 again and you've got real time hours (10). So, for 500 days in days, you've played for 10 hours.

That is, if I've done my math right. That should mean that you can divide your current number of days by 50 to get your total hours. I think.

Of course, that doesn't account for any reloading of previous saves.

edit: Just did the calculations for my own character. I'm on day 230, which would mean I've played for roughly 4.5 to 5 hours. Definitely not right...

Well the dwemer counter seems to work perfectly and basically how Oblivion and Skyrim do where it just tells you how long you've played a certain save file. You just drag the box onto your character and it will tell you how long you've been playing. It works perfect. Of course I had already played for about an hour before getting the counter but it's still better than nothing. I might start a new character with the dwemer counter just so it's completely accurate.

Plus, if all else fails I can figure out how long a day in Morrowind is myself, just by observing the day pass and timing it.

Thought it seemed odd. There's gotta be a in game day to hour conversion somewhere though.

The default timescale is 30:1 -- that can be changed with the console "Set Timescale To" command.

In other words, assuming the default timescale, one game day is equal to 48 actual minutes.

I have the solutioN!! Indeed. Just set game time to real time and never sleep or wait. Then count the days.

Basically google this:

http://www.google.com/search?q=500*24/30

Put your ingame day number instead of 500 and it will give your gameplay time in hours(timescale=30).

For 500 day, it is 400 hours. You must be sleeping some of it though. But then you spent time in dialog, reading books and loading screens too.

All you have to do is multiply the number of days by 0.8 -- that gives you the approximate number of hours you've played the character (assuming the default timescale.)

Yeah, I know. It was more of a (too elaborate) joke =P

Yeah, I got it, but I noted that some people earlier in the thread were confused. :)
