Would this video card run Morrowind

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 7:37 am

I'm thinking of buying Morrowind for the PC, seeing as my laptop wouldn't be able to run Skyrim, and I'm not buying Oblivion. I've already checked the hardware requirements, and my computer is good in the Harddrive Space, Operaing System, Processor, and RAM. However, I'm not sure if my video card is enough to run it with decent frame-rate. I have;

Laptop: DELL Inspiron 9300

Hard Drive Space: 19.7 GB free of 51.6 GB

Operating System: Windows 7 32-bit

Processor: Intel? Pentium? M processor 1.60GHz

RAM: 2.00 GB

Video Card: ATI Mobility Radeon X300

I have no idea how this would run Morrowind, but I am pretty sure that it WILL run it, weather or not it has good frame rate, based on other sources. Also, because I have a laptop, I am unable to change the video card... :confused:

Also, I read on Gamespy that downloading Catalyst driver software may help, but I am unsure.

The game should be playable in a low resolution,but don't expect much.That hardware is ancient.

Morrowind is mostly bottlenecked by the CPU, unlike most newer games which take advantage of faster GPUs. The Radeon X300 will run Morrowind as an acceptable level. The main problem would be the CPU and 1.6GHz Pentium M.

I would stick to resolutions 1024x768 (or equivalent) or under.
