Installing new SSD - need help with drivers

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 10:21 pm

Hi everybody, I just installed a 120GB Intel 510 series SSD to my Asus X53E-RH71 laptop. I then installed Windows 7 Home premium since I have the install disk with product key. My SSD has zero programs on it. It also does not have any drivers or anything, so I cannot connect to the internet either. I'm using a different laptop to post on here.

What do I need to do or download in order to get my laptop working and connecting to the internet? I know I need to get Micosoft .NET framework 4 and Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable x86 but those are for graphics. How do I know what drivers to install?

Also, once I am able to connect to the internet, I have a Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade product key that I bought the other day so that I can upgrade from Home Premium to Ultimate. I hope I won't need to go through all this mess again.

I'm trying to connect to the internet and even though I have my blue ethernet cable plugged in, the laptop isn't recognizing the connection. This laptop that I'm typing on obviously is recognizing the internet (otherwise I wouldn't be posting). So there has to be something, like a driver, that my other laptop with the new SSD is missing.

Thanks to who ever can help me. Here are two pictures below so you guys can see what I'm talking about. I downloaded a LAN file from a website that I thought might be the driver I would need, but even that won't install! Please help.

The SSD doesn't need drivers unless its a PCIe based SSD. Whenever you do a clean install of Windows you need to download chipset (motherboard) drivers which usually include a North Bridge, South Bridge, USB, and any integrated devices (graphics, sound, LAN, etc..)

Which version of Home Premium, you do you have 64-bit or 32-bit?

Actually, my drive is missing. So I ordered the recovery disks which include Windows 7 Home Premium. My is 64-bit, by the way. I also have a Windows 7 Ultimate product key that I can upgrade to.
Thanks for trying to help me.
