Is the disk based version of Morrowind more stable?

I have had nothing but complete trouble for the past few weeks when playing Morrowind. Characters become entirely unplayable in just two days and it doesn't help that I save constantly. I am using the Steam version, but have no idea if it is just the fact that I'm using mods and utilities like Fliggerty's Morrowind Script Extender, his Improved Bartering mod that requires Morrowind Script Extender, one house mod that is pretty simple in every way, a mod that kills every cliffracer but keeps them in the game, Morrowind Code Patch, and Better Bodies. It could be Steam just not wanting me to enjoy an old game. It could be me needing to delete EVERY file that involves Morrowind. I have no idea, which is why I had my dad order the psychical disk of the Game of the Year Edition. I have Windows 7, but it was working fine until I installed some mods.

Now to cut to the chase. Will playing Morrowind from the disk it was released on be it the Game of the Year edition or not Game of the Year edition give me a more stable gaming experience? I have tried using Wyre Mash, and it just tells me there's no problem when I try to repair a save that decides to randomly never let me use it ever again by only going to the loading part of the process. When I try to fix a save and there is a problem, Bloodmoon basically is so busy being the alpha wolf at the top of the load list that it will not let me change the load order of the expansions even if they might be the cause of a problem.

Details please? You haven't told us anything useful about your problem, just everything you've done to try and solve your problem on your own.

Anyway, buying a physical copy of the game won't fix whatever issue you've got here.

I get a crash to desktop after saving too many times or just because. The crash happens when I try to load up a save, and it happens after the game is done loading areas. I had downloaded a mod that made the slave bracers harder to get off and that was when it seemed to start happening. The game works, but it often will not load saves most of the time, and I have about 32 saves right now for just one character. Many are starting to crash upon the areas loading being finished. Some crash after I encounter something that is in the game unmmodded.

I was going to get the game as a physical copy until I just decided to get it off Steam. At least I will have a physical copy on hand just in case or something. Prefer having the disk over the download, anyways. Thanks, and sorry for the lack of information.

Not much solace, but MW is known for frequent CTDs regardless of using mods or not. I can only suggest getting into debug mode: Start over from scratch, confirm that your vanilla game (no mods) works and then add mods one or a few at a time testing what happens. AFAIK, Morrowind Code Patch and Morrowind Patch Project have clean bills of health and considered to be must haves even for an otherwise unmodded game. Double check mod readmes for known compatibilities or load order. If you haven't, try using mlox. It's not a mod; it uses a list of rules submitted by users to check your mod load order for issues and re-order them, many times providing explanations.

P.S.: The physical disc includes the Construction Set, meaning that down the road, you will be able to make your own mods if you desire.

Have fun playing the game.

I heard the Game of the Year edition of Morrowind doesn't have the CS. Disk or not. Might be wrong. I'm using mods that couldn't possibly conflict. One just kills cliff racers as they appear. One simply adds a very basic shack that has no jazz added. Better Bodies has never been a problem causer. Fliggerty's Improved Bartering might just have random results, though. It isn't working this time.

I have taken to just quick saving since it seems to be the only stable type of save file. I'll check into mlox, though. I have never heard of it, but maybe it will be another useful tool.
