Crackpot Idea

Perhaps I am under thinking this, but what if you just changed every npc into a creature like vivec, dagoth ur, and almalexia? then again, that could be much more work that what you guys are proposing
That would require making a custom mesh for every NPC in the game, and probably be just about as easy as winning the lottery without buying a ticket.

Oh my. Then again, it was just a suggestion, so no harm no foul right?

Couldn't you just take the existing better bodies mesh and assign it to the NPC creature?

Or just look at the script for necromancy realism and you know, look at how the creator made it so you didn't have to do things that would waste a lot of time.

No. The better bodies mesh doesn't have animation files in it, that's why we are able to make animation replacers. Creature meshes have the animations made into them, hence why you have to alter the mesh for them to alter animations. Animations would have to be made for better bodies mesh and then it could be set up as a creature.

That mod does not accomplish the same task being discussed here. What my aim is, or was, is to be able Soul Trap NPCs, or at least trick oneself into thinking that that's what's happened. My proposed method would basically be an illusion, a bit of smoke and mirrors. Like summoning modded creatures. That's an illusion, a trick, because a script is causing the creature to appear, not the normal summoning system, since that bit of coding is off-limits.
