Where can I find opening doors (that physically swing open)?

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 12:15 am

I am a newbie to the CS and i just cant find the doors that physically swing open when you activate it (so not the teleport doors).

If anybody could tell me where to find them, I would be very happy  !!! thx

Most of what I have seen are gates like in Gardens. I can't remember any doors but old forts would be the first place I would look.

Normally the doors without 'LOAD" in there names have animations.

If you want to check if a door is animated, place it in the gameworld, double click on it to bring up the properties window, check 'Open by default' and click okay, if the door opens its animated.

What type of interior do you need the doors for? IIRC they generally have "animated" in the name.

Depends on which door you are looking for ! For example for doors in Anvil there are a couple Meshes\Architecture\Anvil\ ( anvildoormcanim01.nif and anvildoorucanim.nif) In Cheydinhall (Meshes\Architecture\Cheydinhall) there is cheydinhaldoorintanim01.nif -- Chorral has several in the Meshes\Architecture\chorrol\interior\ folder named chorroldoormiddleanim01.nif through chorroldoormiddleanim04.nif. (SO they are there you just have to look for them - any with Anim in the naming means they are animated !)

If none of those fits and you need a specific door that no animated one exists for you can use copy\paste to paste the door model you want into one of those and reuse the existing animation with your door model.

Try turning them around - put a left opening door on the right side of the opening. Then it swings the opposite way.

Or adjust the animation properties in the NIF by placing a - sign in front of the rotation key to make it open in the opposite direction or change the rotation axis to have it swing from the top or bottom ! (Lots of ways it can be done but as others have pointed out would need to know what door is wanted and what kind of opening animation would fit the situation )

Quite handy, never knew this! :tops:
I usually use the "Find text" function to search for doors with "anim" or "int" in their name, which is quite tedious already. But even when I find one, I'll still have to load up a game to check whether it's really animated. YOur hint makes it much easier!
