What to jump off of?

Fortja developed a habit of jumping up through the gates between the IC districts. She'd run, leap over the steps, and activate the door at the top. She would hang momentarily in the air...(loading screen)...then she'd plop down on the other side. I find the loading screens tend to break immersion, but I always felt that the immersion held up better, with that kind of playfulness. :)

I have always loved to do that in games. In Unreal Tournament, I used to always leap onto my team's flagpost when I captured the last enemy flag. That way the screen would freeze on that image of my character in mid air while the scores were displayed.

When you walk out of Castle Cheydinhal, the path is lined by stone fences. I always like to jump from post to post on the way down.

Because of this thread my current Breton walked out of Anvil Castle and jumped down the slope. The last gate of castle before you get to gate to city- there is a nice slope leading to the water. Walk down-around a little on your left, I think, Hero's left leaving castle. You can adjust the height neccesary and easily run back up and repeat. I needed 3 or 4 points to advance and used this. My level was not high at the time, below 50. The distance you need to jump before taking damage changes as you advance.

Yes, I'll never stop bunny hopping. I see no reason to. Oblivion has lots of simple joys. Why not take them? And I find ledges and walls to stand upon for no other reason than they're there and so am I and it's a great evening.

This is why it's impossible to design a game without some criticism- some folks complained about bunny hopping. They despised it. I believe they felt it undignified.
Some people complained about Oblivion's joys and wonders. Who knew having fun was so detrimental to intellectual imersion?
