Corruption and Conscience

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 5:05 am

Hello,

I'm in the process of doing the quest corruption and conscience. I'm at the point where I follow Aldos to his house, and I get "frozen" in front of there and then we sit...and sit...and sit...nothing happens?

I understand he's supposed to try to break into his house and a guard shows up and kills him, but, I've been waiting for an hour (real time), and this is getting ridiculous. Is there a specific time this is going to happen (night-time?), or is there something else I should do first.

I have been thinking about different ways to get this done, but, since I am "frozen" waiting for something to happen, I can't cast spells, talk to anyone, etc....

What am I missing, or is it a bug?

Cheers,

Michael

IIRC there should be a guard blocking his door 24/7. The guard will always yell something like "Stand aside!" if you get too close to him. Maybe the guard accidentally tripped on your sword?

You could try something like reverse pickpocketing a poison apple on Aldos. If he dies the quest should update on its own. Don't know if it will update if you just hack him to pieces.

It's a known bug. This is a buggy quest (see the http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Corruption_and_Conscience.)

On PC, you can advance the quest with the console:
