What will happen if I inject the FEV

Nothing really happens unfortunately. In-lore the FEV wipes the CW clean, however Bethesda obviously didn't intend for people to insert the FEV when they made Broken Steel (since why would you side with the Enclave and then join back up with the BOS again?)

Its all a result of Bethesda originally not intending to make Broken Steel. As a result, the storyline gets screwy.
100% agree..
In fact neither the side-quests and the MQ make sense if you did insert the FEV
-Why would I attack the Enclave, if I adhere to their main goals.. Do I magically know it will lead me to an all out chance to deal a blow to the BOS...? (and for that matter why did the enclave not use that option themselves..)
-The FEV did work pretty well in the ending slides.. Well after two weeks... the only one it works really well on is you..
-If I inserted the FEV because out of some twisted moral choice (maybe thinking it would rid the world of ghouls and supermutants), found out that it can kill wasteland humans as well... why would I protect the convoys...? Would I not want to alert someone..
Etc...

snip

Roleplay wise, the only option you really have if you inserted the FEV is to ignore the fact that you inserted the FEV.

Since the FEV is a virus it works as a long term killer.

And to be honest the Broken Steel FEV is scientifically more accurate than the insta-killer we are used to. Ebola is a good example of why strong viruses are actually the weakest ones since they kill their victims far before getting the chance to infect others and thus Ebola with all its power has not killed more than a thousand people (compare to millions upon millions killed by HIV/AIDS). BS FEV with its slow and mostly silent killing has the time to spread around and it does not affect pure strains, unlike FEV Curling-13 which killed all human indiscriminately (thus Enclave needed to inoculate themselves).

You can ensure long term Enclave victory however just by sparing Autumn and nuking the Citadel. With the Brotherhood out of the picture and Autumn alive it's only a matter of time for the Enclave to rebuild itself. Use the FEV if you want to, but it only defines how the Enclave is going to win.

The only way to blow up the citadel though is to kill everyone at Adams Airforce Base which svcks.

Not all. Not even the most. Chinese Stealth Suit and 100 Sneak, you can just run past them all.
