Unusual Locations for Player Homes

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 11:48 pm

Now I know everyone likes to have the Tenpenny Suite or Megaton House, but have you ever made your home somewhere really weird for either role-play reasons or just because it looked cool? On my latest character, (a girl obsessed with the old-world), after completing "Stealing Independence" I decided to live in the Archival Strong Room, no clue why but it just seemed fitting. And its pretty cool to have Button Gwinnet, A protectron that plays GNR, and 2 Turrets guarding my home. Has anyone else done something like this?

Though I decorated and home-ified it with mods, Washington Monument's top level was a nice home. Good view.

I remember on one character when I was RPing as a raider, I took over Evergreen Mills, declared myself King O' Green and lived in the top room of the factory (the one with the bed and the safe), and lorded over my raider force with an Iron fist.

Some of the most fun I've had with a roleplay. Just for sheer randomness and homicidal hilarity.

Another time I had a character who was a mad scientist obsessed with Nuka Cola and building an army of robots, so I made my home in the robo-repair center (although it was modded of course by "Buildable bots") which was absolutely decked out in Nuka Cola stuff (trucks, lamps, banners, etc.)

Then I built an army of bots to surround the place and protect all the Nuka Cola I had stashed.

I have made a detective character, just recently and have set up a home, in the area near the Jury Street Metro Station, just inside Hank's Electrical Supply. His office, to where he looks at his filings and writes reports, is the room, with the safe in it, inside Hank's Electrical Supply. The Nifty Thrifty salestore building in Takoma Park, looks pretty neat too, if you ever happen to create a merchant character.

I've been looking for a nice place to hang my hat on my new file. I'm Lvl 6 right now so I'm basically getting started again. Any out in the waste places that have safe storage?

Basically, anyplace that is enclosed is where there would be safestorage(Metros, Homes, Buildings, etc)

If I choose not to have a Megaton/Tenpenny Tower house, I usually just go to Minefield and reside in one of their 4 homes...after taking Arkansas's key to them, of course.

Haha nice. I never thought of living in one of those homes. I'll check it out.

I haven't actually tried that yet, but I've considered the house in Arlington Cemetery (has a work bench and decent amount of storage). I've also though about Hamilton's Hideaway since it's fairly central, but not many local amenities, and the tunnels are too long and messy.

Mechanist's Forge. Only thing missing is a radio. It's clean and you have a cool door. Near Canterbury Commons for that trade route.
County Mainline Sewer. You have a uncracked TV! and a clean bed. Near Megaton and Greyditch area.
Talon Company Camp. I live here now. Very clean, well lit, lots of room for display and storage and six beds. Near Greyditch. I've mined the crap out of it, so don't come over with calling first.

My crazy loner sniper character has set up in the ruins opposite Arlington Library. It's mined and trapped to high heaven. There is a bed, workbench, and plenty of storage. Not sure if the storage is safe though as the place is outside.

That's a great place. I have a little stash there. All your ammo boxes, med kits and those safes, will be safe all game. Depending on where you are in the game, depends on the enemies who spawn there. You know about one..... there are
Spoiler
three Enclave Tesla Troopers there later
. Keep mining...

Just want to say that all places that have safe storage and maybe turrets i can make friendly are some i have ''conquered'' for personal use. I tend to not use fast travel so i always need a ''outpost'' here and there with ammo stims or something. But my main house is of course Megaton but i barely use it anymore.

I rarely use any building for housing because I don't have a need for it, I don't carry half of the arsenal with me and I usually don't need place to leave my stuff, I have what I want always with me or in my backpack.
But I had some playthroughs where I was using some locations as housing, mostly for safe sleeping, I remember I was using Antagonizer's lair and various safe places in metro.
