Original Fallout 3 and its DLC question

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 3:36 am

So about 2 month back i picked up the basic copy of fallout 3 for 3 quid to give me something to play while skyrim was constantly crashing, and now im really getting into it and enjoying it despite the few glitches and frame rate dips iv already come across they werent anything massively bad, and i was thinking of getting some of the DLC probably not all of it just one or 2 but i dunno if that would be wise or not as well iv heard some bad things about how DLC effects the game performance in a negative way, causing bad framerates and crashes, and i dont want to be wasting money on something that could end up ruining my game.

so would it be wise to get the DLC or should i just leave it alone and keep on with just the main game?
also which DLC would you suggest if i was to get any?

There is a low chance that any glitches would happen.

I have had no memorable glitches, freezes, or frame rate drops, then entire time I played Fallout 3.

Ta its just iv heard a lot of bad things about it making the game stability worse and that it caused bad lag and crashes after some time, been on the skyrim forums to much and i didn't want to be wasting money on something that wasn't going to work as intended iv done enough of that with bethesda already

which ones would you say were the best ones?
im kinda interested in broken steel and the spaceship one but im not sure

I think the dlc is worth the money. I played vanilla and 2 years later again with all dlcs, no major lag or crashing to remember. I recommend The Pitt (atmosphere, story) and of course Broken Steel.

Although I play on PC, I dropped in hear because of the title. I would recommend that you purchase all the DLC except Mothership Zeta. If you get nothing else, get Broken Steel.

Maybe it would be wise to buy the GOTY instead of purchasing each DLC separately. I bought it myself in January for ~14€, which should be much cheaper compared to buying two DLCs.

i couldnt find the GOTY edition anywhere not even new and i saw the normal edition for just 3 quid and thought why not i wasnt expecting to enjoy it enough to want to have a DLC or two to go with it especially after skyrim as i got fallout 3 to play while waiting for skyrim to stop crashing ever hour and DLCs are 7 quid on the PS store for me each

also iv heard that the GOTY edition crashes alot more then the normal edition with the DLCs bought separately and that the normal version was more stable

i bought GOTY edition and the first one I tried was the pitt and encountered a game-ending bug, so I wouldn't recommened that. I just returned the GOTY edition and went back to the original which got my character back but I lost all my stuff :( My fault for not making a backup save I guess, I've learned my lesson with Bethesda games.

thats why i was asking if it was wise to get any dlc at all and if i do which ones as well after skyrim then hearing about the issues with fallout and now running into an annoying bug i dont want to be wasting money on something that will end up just falling appart and becoming unplayable

So in the end i only got broken steel DLC didn't get a second one and I'm glad i didn't
broken steel activated and worked just fine on my save i had no problem there
however it has caused a very noticeable dip in performance its now actually having some bad frame-rate dips much worse then it was before and it crashes more
but its still playable and i can still play for a few hours (2-4) before i have to worry ,
so for now I'm gonna delete the game data (but keep my saves) from the PS3, and play something not made by bethesda to give my PS3 a break from shoddy game codes and when i go back to fallout 3 which i will ill do a clean install for it to see if that helps it out for a little while longer

*sighs* so far the only bethesda game i have that seems to actually bloody work is oblivion and even that has some massive bugs left in it
