Fallout 4 - Entomophobia?

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 1:36 am

I know I'm going to sound like a real [censored] by posting this and talking about it, but, I'm sure there are some of you guys out there in the Fallout nation that are just like me.

Are any of you disgusted by the grotesque creatures of the wasteland? I'm not sure about you guys, but, I sure am. I have a case of Entomophobia and I think some of you guys out there have it too. For those who aren't aware about what the word "Entomophobia" means, it's a phobia of insects, arthropods, and the like. Anyways, I'm seriously disgusted by the Cazadors, and the Bloatflies. I get troubles "V.A.T.S.-ing" at them because of how revolting, or disgusting they are. Even at the 3rd person over-the-shoulder view I can't play properly against them. I really thought Bethesda had gone crazy with the Wasteland creatures when they added the "Legendary Bloatfly."

What I ask of Bethesda is not to remove the creatures, but, to add an option like the "hardcoe option" to remove or leave the insects in the game. I would like them to ask if some of our Entomophobic friend's out there would also like to remove the grotesque insects and replace them with an equally powered and leveled monster. (Honestly, I'd even take a Deathclaw over a gathering of Bloatflies.)

So, what are your comments? Yes, I do expect comments like: "Dude, removing that would be a game-changer." or "Y U SO GAY/[censored]" or something just like that. I just hope some Bethesda's Entomophobic gamer's would respond to this forum post by agreeing. Even when I played TESV, I had a hard time overcoming the Frostbite Spiders. So again, thank you for taking your time to read this.

I find bloatflies pretty damn nasty. The very thought of a http://www.falloutwiki.com/Bloatfly_slider... Well, yuck. However, this is Fallout. There are mutated abominations out in the wasteland. Desperate wastelanders eat what they can come by. I don't know to what degree your phobia is a problem, but it sounds like a pretty appropriate reaction, one I'd frankly wish I shared! These creatures should be nasty and gross and horrendous in most ways.

Bloatflies die easy enough, so you really don't have to look at them for long. I agree with you Scab, Bloatfly Sliders? YUCK, never ate them hahaha.

Casadors are more annoying than gross. I actually like their pretty colorful wings LOL But yea, in a wasteland, one expects to encounter all sorts of mutated animals, including insects, unfortunately.

Some people want a feature to remove cussing, bloody messes, and now insects. I doubt the devs can cater to everyone and if they have to include options to take out all the things that bug (sorry, no pun intended) people, then I guess they would simply change the game basis, which in turn would not be appreciated by hardcoe Fallout fans.

Honestly, every time I find a Bloatfly, I start to run away and never look back. I'm pretty much 50/50 with the Radroaches and Giant Worker Ants and the like. It's just that Cazadors and Bloatflies pretty much scares me Sh!tless every time I think about it at night.

Deathclaws and Feral Ghoul Reavers do that for me!!!!!! LOL *shudders* I know where you are coming from, trust me. Yet, I guess we are the heroes, the survivors in these games and sometimes, sometimes we just have to rise to the occassion and jump over our own shadow. That's what I do, when I enter Quarry Junction, or enter the Cave of the Abaddon in the Divide. Or explore highly radioactive areas, where I know the Reavers hang out. I think I screamed a little the first time and then just started shooting, shooting, shooting and I think I was still shooting when everything and everyone was dead! LOL

Really? Well... I have no grounds to relate with you there.... I'm scared of spiders in real life.. but in games like skyrim or Doom 3 they don't bother me... well there was the first time in penumbra... I kind of want to attack bloat flies with fly swatters.. it seems...fun...

Heh, from a realistic view, I just don't see them implementing this. It's a super niche request that would require a good deal of resources to pull off, and it would benefit so few people.

That said, Bloatflies are #$%^in disgusting.

They absolutely should add a unique melee weapon shaped like a flyswatter that does bonus damage to bugs. That would be awesome.

The only thing I hate is when you're in the metros and you hear that god-awful shriek that feral ghouls make. Then you hear them running. Then you're violently turning around to see where it's going to come from. Then no matter what, it hits from behind and scares the [censored] out of you. Just thinking of the sound they make makes me shiver.
