US Navy and Marine Corps in Fallout.

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 4:34 am

Has anyone else noticed that the Marine Corps and Navy don't get mentioned much in Fallout? The only three times I have found stuff about the Corps is on the Desert Ranger armor, a holotape in Fallout 3, and GySgt. Benjamin Montgomery in Operation Anchorage. Im just sayin, it's not like the Army does all the work...

well as long as the game isn't in China, Pacific, Caribbean or any major navy facility you will not be able to see that dead corps. or as as zombie....

You'd think there would be a larger National Guard presence since didn't they get deployed prior to adn up-to the apoaclypse to keep law adn order in the American Cities?

That's why it says, "The Few, The Proud." Unless we're battling it out for ever inch with nothing but our KA-BAR knives, whether it's a island jungle or city in the desert, we don't get mentioned.

It's like the navy to not get mentioned, because they're just the backseat drivers.

They're lucky to even be able to have that bus driver job, nowadays. I can't remember a time I saw/heard some 16"ers go off in anger. Was definitely before my time. :P

Also, note to self: Remember to refer from this point forward, any and all food served on a (navy) boat as, "nothing short of the Love Boat."

The presence seams to be fairly large, at least in D.C. If you look at the terminal outside the Germantown Police Station it mentions the National Guard being there from PA the day after the war. And the huge amounts of combat armor and assault rifles is probably linked to that as well.

Isn't there also a mention of the American ships finding and sinking that Chinese sub in Point Lookout?

In regards to the Navy:

"Horace Pinkerton was born in 2217 In his early twenties, he helped lead the remnants of the Naval Research Institute in a search for new lab space until they came across an Abandoned Aircraft Carrier in 2239. After clearing out a Mirelurk infestation, he and his team moved into the carrier and set up their science lab. Soon after, the population at their new home began to grow, leading Pinkerton to form a council and name the aircraft carrier and its inhabitants Rivet City."

Thats a quote from Nukapedia page about Horace Pinkerton (http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Pinkerton)

I'd also say there's a good chance of people that are descendants of the Navy and Marine personnel living in the Hampton Roads area of VA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hampton_Roads). Though it most likely got hit pretty hard during the Great War.

There is the national guard in it, quite a lot.
They're mentioned in FO3, in sad terminal entries made pre and post war outside the Germantown Police station.
There also a NG depot there. They're involved in the Keller tapes and quest that goes with it.
There also might be a NG entry in a terminal in Point lookout, but not sure.
I think they were deployed pre and post war.

The navy is mentioned a few times. With Pinkerton, etc. There is a Navy recruitment office in Point Lookout dlc.
And elsewere probabely.

The marines, not as much.
The Survivalist in Honest Hearts dlc was a marine.
I suppose they're more secretive, sometimes, and there ar'nt as many of them.
I don't know any other marine mentions.

The marines could be involved in the BoS. The BoS are from the U.S.A army afterall.
If they are, they are in it a lot, lol.

I thought the enclave's armed forces were the descendants of the USMC?
Also I doubt there are were any marines in Maxons group.

1. They're Army.
2. No marine would betray his country.

The BoS is former US Army, not Marines. Although considering their taking root originally in California, I suppose a few Marines could have possibly joined up?

I dont think marines would stand for the government doing experiments on fellow soldiers and innoncent civilians. This is why Maxons group turned on the scientist is cause they found out what they were doing and the government knew about it. Thats when they turned and declared they were in full desertion.

I bet in real life if our armed forces were ever ordered to turn their guns on the people that they were sworn to protection they would all refuse the order. That is unless you got some wild insane terrorist like Grant, then I guess civilians or militia is all fair game in their eyes then.
