Life lessons

The DLC dead money has the life lesson that you need to learn to let go. The other DLC′s don′t have this (as far as i know) so what do you think is the lessons that could be learned from the other DLC's?

Dont bring unknown packaged for the NCR to new found prosporeys nations, cause who knows, you might blow it up.

Dont trust a crashed satelite that shows a eye on a big screen.

DONT make Graham mad, cause he is seriously gonna [censored] you up if you do.
Thats everything.

Dead Money - Life can begin anew at any day. Begin again. Getting it isn't the hard part, it's letting go.

Honest Hearts - The hardships of redemption. The costs of vengeance weighing in with the costs of forgiveness/submissive attitudes.

Old World Blues - Don't be obsessed with the past so much that you can't see the future.

Lonesome Road - There are so many lessons that Ulysses teaches that I can't summarize it in one sentence. Here's a list of the most prominent.

1. History is doomed to repeat itself. Learn from it, lest you suffer the consequences of it.

2. Flags and ideologies all have their faults.

3. Know what you follow.

3. Know what you follow.

4. Your actions can have consequences that touch people in ways that you never predicted. You should always have thought and reason behind your actions in order to help prevent inadvertent consequences.

Honest Hearts: Be honest with yourself, don't twist your beliefs (religion in HH's case) to justify your actions, and no matter what you do you can still redeem yourself. This DLC's theme was harder to pinpoint than the others imo, since you have to realize that Joshua is, to some degree, doing exactly what he "redeemed" himself from (he is taking military control of tribes and then waging total war against other tribes, sound familiar?) He is always going to be like Caesar unless he realizes that truth about himself and really works to change it, then he can truly redeem himself.

Honest Hearts:
The underlying theme is Kindness and Innocence.. be kind to others, be honest and true to yourself, help others. The direct opposite of the war. I think the Father in the Caves found a new purpose through the young people who entered the valley. He finally got over his survivor guilt and tried to teach these young souls to be kind to each other.

Daniel is the driving force behind the "kindness" motivation/notion in present day Zion. It is also something he hopes to impart onto Graham. How can you call yourself a peaceful missionary, when all you want to do is fight and kill? Graham needs to learn, how to "let go".

Lonesome Road:
Tycho and Dark covered that one pretty well. I always feel that Ulysses is not only teaching us that flags have faults and that old alliances might die or not to repeat history, but also how to hold onto dreams. That sometimes something great can rise out of the ashes. To remember the ideals we fought for, but not to repeat the same mistakes, that honor and courage are solid foundations for a nation.

Dead Money:
Don't rush, or you may loose your head...

Old World Blues:
What good is the best technology in the world, if you loose your humanity?

I don't think history is 'doomed' to repeat itself, only madness and ignorance would cause it. I'd ultimately consider Ulysses' action to be evil because he's intentionally seeking to cause a second apocalypse. It shows only those seeking to do so, and utter ignorance cause repeats of history.

He believes they would destroy themselves eventually (i dont believe that, i just think that NCR is wrong on many terms) and just wants to pwn their asses while looking badass (this is not ingame info, but my own opinion on the situation. Hell its kinda how i think)

Madness and ignorance is inherent in human beings. Ulysses is out for vengeance. The Courier destroyed the Divide (or Ulysses blames the Courier) and Ulysses wants to destroy the Courier's home. His talks about the flaws of each faction is because they are there. Because Ulysses will destroy every nation that wants Hoover Dam, or at least he thinks he will.

With NCR gone, the Legion will have an easier time taking over the Mojave. Vegas falls immediately because of that (unless you're with House or Yes Man), and then in Ulysses' mind, the Legion will crumble after destroying the NCR. In reality though...there's the entire Midwest and East Coast for the Legion to conquer. Not to mention Canada and Mexico.

Good point, after that they would probably make small rafts and sail to russia/china and europe/africa and take over the world LOL :D Anyways they are gonna die out in the end no matter what, a nation built entirely for war is bound to fail.

They're tribes right now. Legion is supposed to change slowly and over time after they take Vegas. They then have a technologically good city untouched by the bombs (unlike the ruins of Flagstaff). They'll turn into an Empire. War will still be the main thing but at least they have stuff to fall back on.

Dead Money brought more to the table than I thought. The theme is learn to know when to let go, as that's the hardest part but for the Courier, it only goes as far as the gold bars and the ungodly might of the Sierra Madre, the creator and destroyer of nations. The ultimate Ulysses Cannon. However, just look at people like Dean Domino. He is so caught up in the past with his affairs with Sinclair he is still bound to his heist 200 years later. Dog and God are stuck wanting their dead Master.

I think Old World Blues conveys two messages- THe first, people like the Think Tank are so high up in the sky with their science that they don't evne realize the world around them. This could also tie in the fact that not even these master minds are insuscepible to manipulation.(Dr.Mobius) Also, the world was destroyed and people keep mourning for the past. Instead of trying to rebuild, we should use both old and new technology to make a new world. Instead of suffering from Old World Blues, spread New World Hope.

Honest Hearts deals mostly with The Prodigal Son. The Burned Man, through all his deeds, is still capable of atoning for what he has done. If a hardened unkillable Legate can do it, so can anyone else.

Lonesome Road instills in me the idea of Independence and true freedom. Nuke the NCR, and send the Legion along with them. In Post Apocalyptia, there is no place for big government. Why should Goodsprings have to fork taxes to fortify Shady Sands? We should be creating prosperous communities, not svcking the world dry and cursing the populace with Old World Blues.

I would go with this one, makes the most sense. And yeah, Ulysses is just full of lessons, one of the reasons he's my favorite character.
