Exactly, even if their society is a bit sixist towards female's, even if it's only within the army, it's slaves that are treated badly.

Examples of women not being taken for slavery:

* Jeannie May
* Female Courier
* Primm

Legion has citizens, both male and female.
So Legion lands are safe for women who are citizens.
And hell, as long as a breeder doesn't oppose the Legion I think their life is considerably better than a labour slave.
A labour slave has to work all the time, every day for little food.

A breeder on the other hand, and this is just speculation but it makes sense, they have to be treated better.
Think about it, they need food for two, so they will get more food.
As long as they don't try to make a run for it or oppose Legion they'll likely not have to work a day in their life.
And they won't be physically mishandled as it could hurt the babies, which Legion needs.
It wouldn't make much sense for Legion to treat their breeders horribly as they need the women and their babies.

A BREEDER. Listen to yourself talk about women and trying to make it sound pleasant! LOLOL *shakes head* And don't get me started on Jeannie May! What a horrible woman, selling a pregnant woman into slavery!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, I'm doing... well TRYING a Legion play through right now. I even created a male toon for that reason. So, I went to Nipton, told the Legion, I admire their swift justice or something, gained a bit of Legion fame, then went on my merry way, told NCR about what happened, all is good.

I walked towards Novak, stopped at the Wolfshorn Ranch (to find traces of my beloved Ulysses <3 oh uhm, wait I'm playing a guy now...) anyway, so these Traveling Merchants spawn on the overpass, I trade and then go on ahead. What do I see? Two legionnaires on the side of the road, setting up an ambush for INNOCENT traders. I just couldn't help myself, I had to protect the merchants. So, I kill like 5 Legionnaires, then head to Novac.

I go exploring and WHAT THE heck? Legion assassins show up and they tell me Ceasar has marked me for death... wow, Ceasar gets his panty in a twist over 5 Legionnaires? psh I was like level 8 and died 4 or 5 times, but I went back to the spot until I killed them LOL Oh and every kill adds Legion Infamy? They attacked ME!

So, I head to Nelson to see if I can get back on the good side of the Legion. The Decanus, Dead Sea, asks me to wipe out Forlorn Hope!!!!!!!!!!!!! No way man! So, I head there, since I know there are so many quests.

And then it hits me, why I don't like the Legion, at all... They talk to me like I'm scum. I clicked on some recruit and he said "Degenerates like you should hang from a cross" Hello, you don't know me! I could be a potential ally! It's even worse when you are a woman. The guy at the arena in the Fort, told my female toon "Woman, know your place" when I asked if I could fight in the arena.

NCR on the other hand talk like REAL human beings. They are just trying to make a difference in the wasteland, trying to establish order, where there is none. They are grateful for help and they talk and act with compassion. Sure, the higher ups might have their own agenda, but most soldiers in the field are just like you and me. Plus, they don't want to erase your identity or enslave you.

Man, I'm really struggling with this Legion play through... LOL Maybe I head to Cottonwood and see if I can exploit that dialogue loop about the landmines, get the Lucky shades and then it's Hasta la Vista Legion...

I didn't say I agreed with Jeannie May and I didn't mean to make a Breeder sound pleasant either.
Breeders are forcefully impregnated, yes.
They are forced to give birth to children which they after a couple of years won't ever see again, yes.
But hey, at least they don't have to work every single day to the point where they might die of exhaustion.
At least they don't have to worry about being crucified for making a mistake.
At least they won't have to worry about not being fed.

If we put the slaves Breeders into comparison with the slaves Legionnaires then Breeders still have it better.
A Breeder has to give birth to children, it can be harmful process which the mother "can" die of.
But guess what Legionnaires have to worry about, getting shot, getting stabbed, failing to complete an objective, getting sick, gettind poisoned, being eaten by wildlife, being crucified for disobedience, decimus, falling to their death, being run over by a vehicle, being imprisoned and tortured by opposing factions.

So is a Breeder "really" worse than a legionnaire or labour slave's life is?
I'm not saying it's great, I'm not even saying that the life of a Breeder has to be good.
But it's most certainly better than the other two types of slaves.

So which would you prefer if you "had to" choose one?
Working yourself to death in the sun?
Being forced to risk your life in skirmishes every single day of your life until you die?
Or being impregnated and giving birth to a child once every year?

I'm just saying, they are all horrible lifes, but I think being a Breeder is the least horrible one.

I would prefer to just kill all Legionnaires I see... wipe them off the face of this earth! That's the better alternative! Their ideology is absolutely corrupt and they are all brainwashed by Ceasar, who cares for nothing and nobody, except for Ultimate POWER! =p :wink:

That is not an option.
I asked what of the three kinds of slaves you'd prefer to be if you had to choose one.
There is no other options, there are only three you get to choose from.

1. Working yourself to death from exhaustion.
2. Living your life in fear of dying every single day as part of the military.
3. Or squeezing out a child once every year.

You can't run, you can't escape, suicide is not an option.
You have to choose between these three, which of these types of slaves would you prefer to be.

Number 2! Although, based on the Legion, there are no women in the military. So, I would choose number 1. Anything, but being violated by some stupid Legion dude once a year. Plus, do you have any idea how much strain this puts on a female body, to pop out a kid once a year? Yea, no thanks. I rather walk around with a bundle on my head, working my butt off. If I'm obedient and resourceful enough, maybe they might see my value and use me to serve food or something. hahahaha

Oh and I had no idea your earlier post was an "these are your only choices" type post! =p :biggrin:

I just sort of went with Yes Man on first my playthrough . . . was going to go NCR but then I was like naaaaaah. Legion and NCR were both jerks in their own different ways. xD Took me until the level cap to decide that.

My second playthrough I got NCR. Lots of boring quests, but you do get some interesting stories out of it.

My third playthrough I went Legion for the hell of it. Annoyed me, so I just finished the main quest without doing many side quests. The lucky shades and the unarmed move was sort of meh for me, since I already had my luck up to ten on that charrie and I prefer guns and distance. I just . . . didn't find a lot of use in the Legion.

Of course women are not in the military. In Rome, women were not allowed in the military either. Either way, gender roles. Whether you think it's right or wrong is irrelevant to this scenario. Caesar has mobilized his army. The Legion you see in the game is a military unit trying to act relatively self sufficiently. Caesar is looking at the genetic average. Women are, after all, less likely to join the military anyways and men are stronger (average, there's no absolute when it comes to human traits).

Either way, the whole point of the Legion is, "Do you produce or do anything useful to Rome?" In the case of soldiers, yes. They protect and conquer. Women, even if they aren't soldiers, they can produce many things. Be a nurse, herbalist, caravan member, cook, etc. Caesar uses women as slaves because that's the only thing they CAN be in the advancing, self sufficient military town. And saying that they're slaves doesn't mean they all do is carrying stuff.

SIri is a herbalist and food server. Many of the slaves are food servers anyways. Others are manual laborers and others are probably maintenance work or weaving armor or something.
