Really NCR?! Really?

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 9:42 am

So I was doing quests for the NCR, and they told me to go kill House, I decided to talk with him before I killed him, all of sudden trough the dialogue I was competing many quests for him because him and NCR want the same thing, so then I leave the Lucky 38, with Mr. House's blood on my hands suddenly informed the NCR will no longer accept my help because I've been working for Mr. House.

Who came up with that idea?

That's odd. I remember doing Mr. House's questline and then NCR, but nothing happened. It has been a while so I may be wrong.

I hate to say it, but if you wanted to side with with either House or NCR then you did it wrong - you have alienated both factions in one go. Basically, you have progressed too far into the House questline, specifically by speaking to him and agreeing to having carried out his requests. If you think about it, it makes sense - NCR and House are rival factions, and if you go agreeing to House's requests, then the NCR won't be happy. The NCR wouldn't want you speaking to House, and that is what you have done. You can't follow both factions all the way; up to a point, yes, but there is a cut off where you have to pledge allegiance to a faction and stick it out.

Just reload your last savegame before you spoke to House, and all will be well.

That's what is great about this game - choice and consequence.

I remember doing the quests for House and the NCR at the same time. By the time the NCR asked me to kill House I did and it was all good. I have no idea where you messed up. Maybe you destroyed the Brotherhood because I didn't. I got the BoS to make peace with the NCR. House didn't like that so I completed the "Kill House" quest for the NCR.

Naw, I was given the destroy the brotherhood quest, and I didn't like that so I blew house up instead.

The NCR are like a jealous five year old "You did exactly what we asked, but then you talked to Mister House, and exactly what we wanted was also exactly what he wanted, but then killed him, but if you can't work for Mister House anymore, You can't work for anyone!"

I'm going to enjoy sending you people back west, the dam is mine now.

Don't Tred on The Bear and Beware The Wrath of Caesar quests become active when you advance too far through an opposing factions questline, it tells you this. Once you pass a certain quest the corresponding NCR/Legion quest will fail and you will become an enemy of NCR or Legion, then the assassins come.

Enjoy :)

Yes but House and Yes-Man don't send assassins after you.
IIRC House is aware of you dealing with NCR/Legion affairs but he doesn't act on it, and Yes-Man is a get-out clause incase you F up the quests, not to mention he's controlled by you so he's not going to come after you.

It makes sense that it's the 2 biggest armies that get pissed at you and have the troops to spare in order to kill you.

There are trigger points in the faction questlines where if you go past them, the other factions shut you out. For Mr. House, that point is The House Always Wins IV; once you complete that quest the NCR and Caesar's Legion will no longer accept your help, and the Legion will become hostile and start sending assassins after you.

did you not see beware the wrath of caesar and don't tread on the bear quests become active? did you not see them in your pip boy? the game makes it quite clear when you hit points of no return.

who came up with this idea? would you rather the game hold your hand and change your diapers and not let you mess up and fail or would you rather the game treat you like an advlt and assume you have some minor degree of intelligence and observational powers?

I've seen the quests before, but I guess because I completed so many quests for House in one dialogue I was both presented with and failed the Don't Tread On The Bear and Beware the Wrath of Caeser immediately after I finished my talking to House.
