How do you change music in an interior cell?

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 6:02 pm

Hi. I'd like to change the music in some interiors. I assumed there would be a cell properties similar to item properties where the available tracks would be listed. I can't find it however. Could anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks.

Try: World -> Cells...

On the common data tab are Default Acoustic and Music Type which I believe are defined in the object window under Audio->Acoustic Space, and Audio->Music Type. If you look at those objects you can see the related sound files.

Thank you. I like the music in Doc Mitchell's house, so I look at the cell GSDocMitchellHouse and under music type on the Common Data tab it's got 1NoMusic. Do you know why that would be? There's obviously music playing in that cell.

Edit. Never mind, I found a tutorial for it and it's quite complicated and out of my league. I'll just leave it as it is.

It turns out it is really easy. The tutorial I read is way over complicated and goes into how to set up custom music. http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Fallout_New_Vegas_Music

But if you just want to use an existing music set it's easy. I'll mention it in case there are people like me who would like to do it but are new to modding (and since nobody seemed to know).

All you do is look at the cell with the music that you want, in my case Doc Mitchell's house. You'll see a big, square, blue marker with an A on it. That's the music marker. Double click that, go to the Audio Marker tab and click on Audio Marker Dialog. There's a drop down menu labelled Media Location Controller that shows the music that is playing in that cell (eg musCtrlDocMitchell). Now open the cell you want to edit and find the audio marker, double click on it like you did with the other one and select that music. All the cells seem to have them even if there is no music but if there isn't you have to place your own and its on Static under World Objects on the Object Window.

Now I have music playing in my Novac Motel room. Yay.
