Asap, been wondering this for a while but... why is Camlorn so damned powerful, and why does it have four provinces...?
Why wouldn't they be as powerful as they other major states of High Rock? Otherwise they wouldn't be a major state. Camlorn has prospered greatly under the Valtieri line, especially under Senhyn. They've opened the only
major port on the North side of Highrock as well as gained the backing of Daggerfall. Their culture is also very Nordic and has the "No BS" ideals of the Nords. If Camlorn wants something, it takes it. It doesn't bother with all the little political parts.
That's explained in my history of Camlorn. However, a quick answer would be, the same reason Evermore, Northpoint, Jehanna, and Farrun are powerful. After the fracturing of the Empire there were a ton of small wars in High Rock. A few states surrounding Camlorn thought it would be a good idea to work together against the larger state. They ended up getting their ass whooped and then conquered (Senhyn is a militarist and has the idea that the only way you get what you want is by taking it with force).
It's hard to explain what really happened here in short, but when I post up the history then you can see how it grew so large. The reason it has four provinces is just because it either conquered them or they swore fealty to Camlorn. If you're meaning why Camlorn has 4 but places like Wayrest and Evermore only have 3, it's because fewer states were absorbed to one another in the Illiac than in the Wrothgarians. In the Illiac there were close to 50 states by themselves. Many of them were absorbed into larger states, and those into larger Kingdoms. There were a fewer number of individual states in the East.
