Kirkbride Art?

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 10:35 am

Hey there

Over the years, there have been some interesting images shown up from MK, the most recent of which in the Foul Murder thread.

However, I must have missed a great deal of them in a decade since Morrowind's release.

I don't suppose we have an archive of them anywhere? Or if not, if we could gather and post what is known here? I didn't see anythign but the Morrowind concept art in the IL gallery.

Most of his Morrowind pre-dev concepts are probably locked away in a Bethesda vault. Never know when one inspires that eureka moment in a possible competitor.

True enough, there have however been post-Morrowind pieces, and it would be nice to gather as many of them (and a mention of what they contain/context) in one place. My Elder Scrolls art folder is crying for new images.

I inquired several other users in private messages about this very topic earlier this week. Unfortunately, no freely available collection of MK artwork exists. I was, however, pointed towards the Imperial Library's hosted The Art of Morrowind book, which has been linked to already.

I actually have that booklet, but ts nice to have the art in a form that i'm not trying to keep pristine. And that picture of Ald'ruhn's fate is always welcome. Thank you.

On that note, none-MK art would be nice too, as long as it is obscure and linked to Bethesda in some way.

Edit: Thank you, Thoughtcriminal, for the info. Perhaps MK himself might stop by and post some of his sketches. Guess we shall see.

There's lots of good Morrowind art on Deviantart. You'll just have to sort out the wheat from the chaff to find some of the best ones.

I'm not just looking for Morrowind art. I'm looking for art directly related to the (ex)developers and lore. What comes to the forefront of my mind are the sketches MK occasionally posts. I'm sure they are floating around, its just a case of bring them together.

Hah! " Guri-Nail Face, Lord of Skerd." Skyrim section.

If only Bethesda, if only.

My God, I must have #91 on page 28...could somebody who is a bit more tech savvy than I get that as close as possible to wallpaper size? Pretty please with bone meal on top? And maybe 105 on page 31? And....I just feel greedy now.

It's in the sword-meeting of cyrus and tiber septim. Protip: If you explore the website it's hosted on, you'll find earlier drafts and concepts. If it's all gone let me know, i saved it all.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but #105 appears to be yet another Dunmer without legs. This is evidently a Denmer/Chimer cultural motif.

104 and 99 are Telvanni succumb to necromancy. Their legs atrophied from levitation, and their bodies bloated with wicked appetite.

I guess legs don't mean quite as much to you if you can levitate.
