Fixing Modding Daggerfall, and A Fix for DF's MAGIC.DEF File

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 6:30 am

You have spell absorption and athleticism, but neither provide you with a constant regen in either magicka or fatigue.
Fatigue works much differently compared to the later games. In Morrowind/Oblivion/Skyrim, it's basically a meter of how "winded" you are, how much "oomph" you can put into attacks. In Daggerfall, it's basically a sleep timer (you need to sleep to refill it, otherwise you collapse from exhaustion and can die) that lasts for a day or two depending on how strenuous your activities are. Having an automatic regen on it like in later games makes no sense because it's a such a slow drain to begin with. The entire fatigue system would have to be reworked to make it sensible.

I don't know about making auto-regen of magicka.

Python I'm a fan of everything you do

Thanks Arctus :)

Not sure if you mean the various patches, or the game itself. I consider both to be easy. There are good instruction on installing the game on several websites, and there is even the sticky at the top of this forum. Installing the patches is easier, read the included documentation.

Some news:

FortuneCity, the host of my site, has decided to discontinue free hosting at the end of April 2012. As I haven't found another free host that allows zip files etc, my site will be going down on 30 April. I don't know if/when it'll be back, so if you've been thinking of grabbing anything -- get it now :)

Thanks for the heads up, python.

FYI, if you're at all interested in keeping the website alive, http://www.110mb.com/ also offers free hosting. Best deal I've ever found, actually. The only notable stipulations there are that uploaded files may be no larger than 8mb and of course you're only allotted 110mb per account.

Ok, I'm done advertising now. I swear I'm not a bot. :P

Hi Python. I'd hate to see such an excellent site go dark. I am happy to host it as a subdomain of dfworkshop.net for you to keep your hard work alive. I can also give you FTP access to the server folder so you can update the site any time. Just send me PM if you're interested. :)
