The Turks was slaves of the Arabs, they also work as mercenaries especially in Abbasid era. When Abbasid fall, Turks rise in power. They gather all the knowledge from their former masters, they become the Imperial power in late Medieval Era. Ironically, they become the master of their masters.

That is why i mention the Imperial in TES do look like Ottoman Turk.

The Mamluks in Egypt too. They started out as slave troops, who eventually gained so much power and influence that they took control of Egypt, conquered Syria, and even defeated the Mongols at Ain Jalut.

Slavery in the later western roman empire was in decline, the empire was on the defensive most the time. Christianity accepted the act but stressed being good to slaves. By the time the west fell in 476 tenet farmers and slaves lived the same quality of life and both would become the serfs of medieval Europe. Even when slavery was in its height in the Roman Empire when many slaves got old and couldn’t work he or she was usually freed, that’s being thrown out into the street after a life of work, food, and shelter. Over all it is the consensus that slavery stifled a lot of innovation in areas like agriculture and manufacturing. The Greeks and Romans were pretty good with trivial things but still neat for the age like temple doors that would open automatically, or statues that could whistle and move, pipe organ, water pump.

We also had in the west Thomas Aquinas he was born about 30 years after Rushd (Averroes) died. Aquinas had more influence on actual western thought, he liked Aristotle enough to fit his teachings into the church. Greek scholars were filtering out of the east (Byzantine Empire) in its last years bearing many great text and the accumulated knowledge their Greek civilization, going on to become teachers in many of the great universities of Italy. A great interest took hold of the classic ancient writings and thought. People were soon digging around in old monasteries and abbeys looking for old manuscripts and writings that they always had just buried under centuries of dust. It wasn’t long after the renaissance came about.

I think the fall of the west Roman Empire and the fusion of Romans and Germans building upon its foundation was a good thing and had to happen to get were we are today.

The Turks had no good reason to conquer and take over Constantinople except might makes right which is why I hope one day its re conquered by Europeans. I would say the altmer dominion in skyrim reminds more of Turks and the Ottoman empire. The Empire is weak and crumbling, just trying to stay afloat, one wrong move will be the excuse the altmers need to finally wipe it out which is all the Dominion ever wanted to do from the beginning.

But the Mamluks and Egyptians never become an Empire or Imperial power, not like the Turks. in late Medieval, Ottoman is the patron Caliphate to all Muslim kingdoms (including Muslim kingdoms in South East Asia). In Islam, we cannot have two caliph, there will be only one at one time. So if there are more than one leader in any region, one caliph will become the patron of all others. In late medieval, Ottoman Turk is the strongest of all and the patron of all caliphs, sultan, leader (or whatever they called in own language) If we read history of Islam up to medieval era, it look like we have many separate kingdoms, but actually we are all one kingdom.

The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: "The Muslim Ummah (people) is a unique Ummah (people) among the whole of mankind: Their Land is ONE, their War is ONE, their Peace is ONE, their Honor is ONE and their Trust is ONE."(Ahmed)

They have reasons, but i don't want to talk about that...and Byzantium/Constantinople/Istanbul will never be conquered again by anyone....and expect Vatican/Rome/Italy will fall soon.... it have been written and it shall be done

They did though. This is one of the definitions of an empire: empire [??mpa??]n
1. (Government, Politics & Diplomacy) an aggregate of peoples and territories, often of great extent, under the rule of a single person, oligarchy, or sovereign state
http://amigo.ge/saunjegallery/albums/userpics/10001/MamlukMap-metmuseum.jpg That's at it's peak, and I'd say it fits the definition by holding a multitude of territories and/or peoples. It may not match the Ottoman empire in terms of territory and power, but it still fits the definition.
