UESP if you need quick help. The Imperial Library for lore, NEVER use UESP for lore.

Don't use Elder Scrolls wikia for anything. It's just awful. UESP for in-game stuff, ID codes, whatever you want to know about gameplay things. For lore, as tgl said, the Imperial Library is where you want to be, as well as the Lore forum here.

whats wrong with UESP lore?
When they summarize things they tend to add or omit details that are not there. It is best to just go to TIL or the lore section of these forums for lore. UESP is good if you want a basic idea of lore but not for details or accuracy. The other wikis are total crap though.

You can do that for a base overview. But make certain you check the sources they use for them. They can tend to generalize, and sometimes completely mistake things.

I use whichever one pops up first in my google search for whatever I'm looking for. And when I do pull up the same topic on different wikis, they are almost always near the exact same.

It's a matter of opinion really, i prefer the wikia, it has what i need, it looks nice and it's easy to search, for example, if you write deadra (Daedra spellt wrong) in Uesp you it wont come up any results of daedra, whereas if you even write d in the search box in the wikia the daedra thread will show up, and if you write deadra and search it will show the daedra thread, but i can agree theres downsides to the wikia, for example the advertising and the lack of information in some threads.

Never ever use UESP for lore, the "lore" writers tend to not pay attention to detail and will often leave stuff out or ignore contradictions in favor of something else.

UESP is way better than the other wikia.

Imperial Library is the best for lore.

I've never heard of the Elderscrolls Wikia...

UESP has never left me dissatisfied. I love that place. I'm having trouble adjusting to the "new" TIL look, but it's still my favorite place for books, lore, and http://www.imperial-library.info/content/morrowind-easter-eggs#Funny%20Sound. :P

The big problem with UESP lore is, back when I would use it, that they would try to rationalize the crazy magic and mythic stuff into something mundane that would make sense in the real world (and therefore almost always basically ignored or contradicted pretty much all the important parts {there are way too many qualifiers in that sentence}). But at least they tried, Elder Scrolls Wiki honestly claimed that Titus Mede II was Titus I's son and therefore Attrebus' "half-brother," with no reasoning whatsoever.

I just ignore them both, go to TIL for lore info and these very forums for any gameplay issues.

UESP. UESP was the original, so it gets points for that. Also, Wiki details skyrim a lot, but UESP gives the entire series in a lot more detail
