I bought Morrowind for a Christmas present for my wife in 2002 (we were married that year) - and, well, it was probably also a surreptitious present for me, too. It turned out that I didn't really play the game until years later - just yesterday, in fact, I finished the main quest for the first time.

She loved it instantly; it took me longer to get into it. But even now, playing totally unmodded, the game looks beautiful in places, and more importantly, it plays beautifully.

I first played Morrowind in 2003 - a friend lent me his copy (I subsequently bought my own...) and last played it yesterday.

The first time I stepped onto the docks at Seyda Neen, I fell in love with the Star-Wounded-East. In 9 years, I have never stayed away for long.

Happy Birthday indeed!

At GHF we certainly aren't letting it slip by unnoticed! We've been cooking up a few things for weeks now. We are under way in judging our Birthday Bash Modding Tourney, and today is the final day to enter the drawing to win a copy of the GOTY edition of the game (there's still a few hours left!) We've got many more things coming over the next few weeks....most of which will be unveiled at http://mw.modhistory.com

I can't believe that this month literally marks the tenth anniversary of the day I started playing Morrowind. Has it really been that long? Wow....

Even after 10 years, and I believe 3 computer upgrades later, when the latest game(s) have lost their appeal or turned out to be disappointing, Morrowind is the game I return to.

Congratulations, and Happy Birthday.

Has it really been ten years? Doesn't seem like that long.

I guess time flies when you are having fun.

Here's a happy tenth to the game and the community!

For the 10th anniversary I apparently bought the steam version. I didn't even realize the significance of the date until I was updating the .bat files to get the Overhaul working and I was required to change it from 5/1/2012 to 5/1/2002. First time playing on PC after having the console version for 9 years, and I am absolutely blown away by the overhaul and all the work the mod community has done. It's like a brand new game.

Wait, until yesterday UESP said it was released on the 5th... what happened to change their mind?

But yeah, happy tenth birthday, even if I am a little late/early :)

I bought Morrowind the day of release, and couldn't wait to install it. I've been on these forums since then to, but I can't remember my login credentials from when Beth changed forums. Anywho, I remember sitting there, while the cd was installing, and flipping through the manual. I'd always been a huge gamer, but never played anything like this, and totally missed the boat on Arena and Daggerfall, even though I was in my teens when they came out. So i'm watching the progress bar, reading the manual, and MAN was I super excited! Ten races? 27 skills? Level up by using skills and not by killing monsters for xp? A huge world to do what ever I want in?

I remember starting it up for the first time, and getting off the boat. Morrowind brought my pc to its knees, and with the highest FPS at 12 frames per second. Balmora was a slide show. I stepped off the silt strider into Balmora, and it started raining. When I heard thunder and lightning in Morrowind for the first time, it hooked me completely. I wanted to LIVE in that world.

I had super high hopes for Oblivion, and for Skyrim. They are both incredible games, but they will never match Morrowind for me. And i'm still playing to this day. I've had about 15 computers and computer upgrades since then, but Morrowind is always one of the first things I install right after installing my OS.

Happy birthday Morrowind!

Little late to the party, but Happy 10th Morrowind!
I'll toast with a flask of Cyrodilic Brandy.

Cheers!
