Sound issue I'd like some help with

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 4:47 pm

Hello,

I play Morrowind on Steam, using MGSO 2.0 as my one and only mod. I believe this issue occurred before using MGSO, but I could be mistaken. Anyways, I've noticed that on occasion the game will act as though my 'effects' slider under the audio tab has been jacked up to its full level. This means that I'll be, say, casting spells and I'll hear '...fwoosh...fwoosh......FFWWWWWOOOOOOOOSSSSSSH!' so loud that anyone in the next room will yell 'What the **** was that!?'

So naturally that's pretty annoying. But when I check my audio tab under options it's not like the game moved the slider for effects at all, it just appears to randomly choose to make one spell in thirty crazy loud. I was wondering if anyone else had this issue, or knew how to fix it.

Thanks in advance.

Morrowind's sounds do that sometimes. Only thing I could think of to fix it would be:

In your base directory (i.e. the folder where you see morrowind.exe) you should see a file called Morrowind Code Patch.exe (if you run MGSO). Run that file. You should see several sections. Under "Game Mechanics Changes", the last option is "Loud Interface Sound Fix". Check that, and Click the "Apply Chosen Patches" button.

Thanks,

I did what you suggested and now I'm off to see if Morrowind will cooperate with sounds now!

Edit: Unfortunately the problem persists, though it may have reduced the frequency somewhat, I can't be entirely sure. Are there any other solutions anyone can think of? Or is it just one of those things we have to live with?

don't know if it's any help, but I've just asked a similar question here:

Thanks for re-linking that, mybad. I hadn't seen it yet and so far it seems to be working...let's keep our fingers crossed this is the permanent fix to our sound issues.
