Undoubtedly a Repetitive Topic... CD Problems

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 7:52 am

I have a legit copy of the game. The game runs wonderfully, beyond crashing for no apparant reason at random intervals, which I solve by using the quicksave frequently. No big deal IMO.

However, I play on a laptop. Seeing as I travel somewhat frequently, it's arguably the best game to be playing on the go. However, I don't want my disc getting killed in transit, either in or out of the disc drive. Yes, I could remove the disc from the drive once it loads, but that doesn't solve all of the problems in my mind. ( Yes, I'm a tad bit paranoid about my discs. )

What I'd prefer to do is make it so that I don't need the CD at all, but somehow I expect that that's not going to happen within 'legal' means.

If it can, I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know how. Otherwise, I guess I'll just have to deal with it as is. I don't exactly want to mod the game with outside products.\

Also, since while I'm at it, is there any way to resolve the 'render error' that occurs some 6-70% of the time I try to open up the game? Once I get into the game proper I have no problems, but it's mildly annoying that it's so difficult to get into the game itself sometimes. And, where would I find the latest official patches to the game, with both expansions?

Thanks,
EKoD

*nudge nudge, poke poke* If anyone could answer, I would appreciate it, as I'd like to see if I can get this done before I have an 8 hour trip in a few days.

Bethesda Softworks should have the patches available there' you'll just have to look around a bit. Google might be faster, IDK. If you're using the GOTY edition, AFAIK, that is fully patched already.

I had the same problem and ended up getting a Steam copy which has worked out pretty well (use your old CS) and it's on sale right now for $9.99.

Not sure if my copy is a GOTY Edition, but I'm inclined to believe it's not. Is there a link I could use for the patches? I'm really terrible with google and the like.

Thanks for the help.

It doesn't have to be GOTY, as long as you have Bloodmoon, you're set.

here's the patch:
