wrye mash and level list questions

How necessary is it for Morrowind to add a bashed patch? It was practically necessary in Oblivion, but it doesn't seem to be as much of an issue in Morrowind to get different creature, armor, weapon, etc mods working together. Does Morrowind handle these assets differently than Oblivion? Am I missing anything by not using a bashed patch? If it helps, below is my modlist:

Leveled lists in wrye mash arnt needed for the game to work right, but if you dont use them, alot of content will get left out because content from one mod will get overridden by other mods and so forth. You will get different things appearing even if you dont use one, just not as much as you otherwise would.

For Leveled Lists, a patch is as necessary as it is in Oblivion. Morrowind uses more handplaced content, esp. when it comes to items, than Oblivion, so it might not be as obvious, but the way it works is basically the same.
I'd also recommend a merging objects (using SmartMerger or TESTool).

Noticed that your mashed lists is #54 in your load order. I use Wrye Mash v84, not the newer stand alone version. Its readme says the mashed list should be last in your load order. So you might want to check if your version also recommends that. Also, I noticed everything looks like it's in alphabetical order. There's a utility program called mlox that does a pretty good job of checking if the load order has problems and will give notes and recommend a different load order that you can use if you want to do so (optional).

Edit: typo

Yea, accept watch out, it will take entire blocks of the mod list and move them instead of just moving the single mod it wants. This can mess things up.

The Bashed Lists.esp should be last.

You can use other tools to manually move one, but mlox is designed to reshuffle your entire load order. It is a good tool. It checks for all known conflicts and load order suggestions and sets your load order accordingly.

Just curious, are we using bashed and mashed interchangeably? I've (don't hurt me) never played Oblivion so I'm unfamiliar with the programs and terms related to that.

If they are the same, then yes, Mashed Lists should be at the end of your load order and you should check the readmes of your mods to make sure the author hasn't included any instructions like "always load last" and "do not merge". BTW, moving mods around in your load order may screw up saved games, but it won't cause problems with new games.

Load order in Morrowind reduces conflicts between mods; mashedlists.esp merges all the items in identically named leveled lists so that everything in the list has an equal chance of showing up. As has been said, not using leveled lists only means that if two mods alter an identically named leveled list, only the items in the list from the mod that loads last will show up ingame.

I usually run it several times. First to get things in right order and then to doublecheck that there were no unexpected issues. BTW, don't forget that mlox lets you specify which order to load mods. It's a text file and has a specific name which escapes me atm

I made the presumption that, even though he said "bashed", that he meant "mashed". I guess the confusion is something to be expected for those who are both Morrowind and Oblivion players.

I dont play Oblivion(I have though) and even I know the difference between mash and bash. morrowind has mash and oblivion has bash, its not complicated.
