How will the Thieves' Guild and the Elsweyr government interact? Will they be hostile to each other, allies, or sort of unofficially accepted like on Vvardenfell?

Skyrim lore can go kill itself. Seriously, pre-Skyrim lore states that Khajiit are skilled with Scimitars. Therefore, Wolli, that is half wrong...half right.
Did Skyrim's lore completely contradict something you guys are aiming for?

Elsweyr and Hammerfell seems to share some cultures and climate with each other since forever. Both seem to have a bit of an Arabian Night feel to them if you see their domes and deserts. But I think it's up to you modders to try and make Elsweyr stand out from Hammerfell.
Taking inspiration from Africa and India is not really a bad idea.

Naturally, the empire isn't going to like them, but the local Khajiit government is closer to "unofficially accepting" the Thieves' Guild.

Skyrim lore gives the impression that only Redguards have Arabian hints in their culture and that Khajiit are more African like in their culture. Many people are trying to use Skyrim's lore to say that we have no idea what we are doing. See, we are making Elsweyr as it was depicted during Morrowind. Not after. That's why those who are used to saying "oh look at those redguards in Skyrim" are completely out of place here.

You go!

There are so many people that want to jump on the Lore of any given project like there is a prize if you find an inconsistency. People forget that Bethesda revises their material to some degree with each release, and that Tamriel doesn't actually exist and has been worked on over a period of 20 years by many different people. And, that any mod that attempts to create something within the lore is granted a certain amount of creative license, 1: Because regurgitating only what is known defeats the purpose of creating something new (Peter David refers to this as creative incist), and 2: Because the modders are the ones working very hard on the project, for no monetary gain. Bethesda re-imagines the races with each release, and this is most notable by the fact that the beast races have human legs in IV and V, and Dunmer have lost their gravelly voices. We don't have people coming out and complaining that Project Outreach's Khajiit's can't wear normal boots like in Skyrim. Following Bethesda's own example, any mod should have some creative license to interpret things or re-imagine things while still staying true to the Lore in some way. If someone plays Project Outreach when it is released and thinks it should be done differently, there is nothing stopping them from asking to join the team or setting up their own team to do their own version of it.

So, since this is a Q&A, here's my question: If someone would like to join your team as part of the Lore research team, how can they go about it? Do you need help with that, or do you have that part "under wraps"?

Question 2: Do you think khajiits evolved in the several years after Morrowind came out, or are those a totally different type of khajiit in oblivion? Or, did Bethesda just re-imagine it and say hell with Lore, we like this better?

Question 3: Can you make my cat into one of your NPC's? his name is Actual Cat. My cat is very cute.

I wouldn't judge the Khajiit on the traveling traders alone. There's a reason why they are trying to trade in Skyrim instead of in their homeland. The nomads are probably the most "African" kind of people is Elsweyr.

You didn't ask me, but since I have some knowledge on this matter, I'll throw in my two cents:

Khajiits, and Argonians becoming what they've been since Oblivion is due mainly to the old digitigrade method being more difficult to work with. Now there are technically no beast races, which means everything will fit everyone.

The lore allowed for it, because Khajiits and Argonians are already known for having different breeds with different physical traits, so having NPCs in OB and SK walk as they do isn't really breaking the lore.

Help in that area would greatly be appreciated. We only have one big lore fella. More would help. I seriously have a lot to do without looking at lore every second! It's the same as any regular showcase except you just simply request to help with lore research. Tell us which sources you usually use and that's it. Easy as that. Long as you use good sources, you're good.

They used different races.

I'll see what I can do. Maybe the Mane likes small four legged cats?

Woo hoo...*cough*. Hello again everyone. You may have noticed my short absence, you may not have, I have been pretty...sick. But while I have been away, our good friend, Le Grimacier, has whipped up some WIP models for the Suthay sub-race.

I figured that, at the least, I could show you a little bit of what can be expected. Remember, it's a WIP and even so, I am happy with the progress and am happy we have it to anticipate the full glory!

Notice how the hands have claws. We aren't giving our Khajiits finger-nails unless it really screams out that that sub-race should have them. It seems appropriate. AND it's based on Liztail's Better Beasts. IIRC, there will be clean and mature versions for those who would like to choose.

Hats off to Le Grimacier and let's not forget that Liztail made Better Beasts, eh?

Have at it.

What are you classing the vanilla Khajiit as? UESP claims that they're Suthay and the ones in Oblivion and Skyrim are Suthay-raht, but your Suthay breed looks more like the Oblivion and Skyrim ones.

Please have the heart not to take away/replace the awesome beast legs of the original Morrowind Khajiit. That's what I missed so much about the "beast" races of Oblivion and Skyrim. Although I personally really would love to see new 'additional' straight legged Khajiit if the lore calls for it.

Very, a few different breeds of them would be awesome. Also it would add and aspect of immersion, otherwise every Khajiit would be almost the exact same.

I noticed.... hope you're feeling all better, soon. *hugs* I assumed by Suthay sub-race, you meant Suthay-raht. Looks good to me!

My only complaint is that I haven't seen a screen shot of my cat, Actual Cat. ;)
