Archer character, with a bit of magic..

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 8:27 am

So I just started playing Oblivion again for the first time in well over a year and I wanted to make a archer character with a small bit of magic, And maybe a short sword for close combat backup.. But I have no idea how to make the character, For race i'm thinking Bosmer or Argonian but other then Archery and Light Armor I dont know what skills to pick and I dont know what birthsign to pick either, So anyone got any ideas?

My archers are either pure archers, or archers with destruction magic, just enough to Get-that-thing-offa me!!
My archers might carry an enchanted dagger, but that's about it for close quarters. They either use that one awesome getoffme spell above, or run away. RUN AWAY!! :ooo: Or go invisible.
You might want to think about Conjuration. Having a buddy means that you can keep your bow out longer rather than switching to a melee weapon. He's a good distraction.
Bosmer, the Atronach. <-----If you think this is too harsh, then Bosmer, the Thief.
My two septims.

Wild Elf is a Bosmer pure archer. She uses alchemy to poison her bow, and tries to keep distance until the poison works, reapplying as needed. She uses Restoration (Absorb Health) if something manages to get close to her, but she has extremely high agility and speed, so she can usually avoid direct contact. She's Atronach birthsign; it really helps if you're facing casters.

I was thinking an archer, With stealth and lockpicking, and Blade for close combat backup. and for magic maybe alteration or illusion.. For night eye and invisability and detect life and stuff (Thats the right scools right..? So long since I played..) And alchemy for potion and poison making.

Detect Life is Mysticism, but you don't really need to major in it; you can buy the same starter spell from Edgar Vautrine in the IC. The other two spells you mentioned are indeed Illusion.

I have an Archer with:

Marksman
Security
Sneak
Illusion
Light Armor
Athletics
Speechcraft

Its pretty fun to play... if someone comes up to melee me, i just paralyze them and kite...

The only thing is that the Illusion sometimes counters the sneak when your trying to sneak but use light spells at the same time....

My four year old archer has the following:

Breton/Warrior/Adventurer// Armorer/ Heavy Armor/ Alchemy/ Alteration/ Light Armor/ Marksman/ Sneak// Dragon Skin

She uses poison, enchanted arrows and bows, and shoots from sneak mode for the 3x multiplier. She doesn’t use combat type magic. She carries two bows and never uses a blade. Slaughtrefish go down easy with fists.

Thanks for the replies, I have made my archer. She is a Bosmer born in the Atronach with Alchemy, Light armor, Blade, Marksman, Illusion, Security and Mysticism. I will see how it goes with this first test character ^_^
