Minor annoying glitch for the 360

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 9:10 pm

This weird glitch just started happening to me after I made a bunch of feather spells. It's not really a big thing, but it is a tad annoying. When I access the spell book menu, it automatically chooses the spell behind whatever spell I last highlighted. For example, the last spell I highlighted is Heal, so when I open up the spellbook, it would suddenly highlight the spell behind it for some reason. I imagine it would be annoying when I would try to cast all my feather spells.

Anyone know how to get rid of it?

EDIT: Oops, this was meant to go in the hardware and software discussion.

When you get a lot of spells in your spell inventory, there seems to be a middle part of the list, that the game will automatically go to, I think, to allow you faster access to all the spells, for example: Starting your search for a spell from the middle of a list, as opposed to starting your search for a spell from the BEGINNING of the list.

I've found this too. One way that works, of course, for me only as far as I know, is by changing the order of how the spells are listed. At the top of your spells list, doesn't matter which category) is an icon. Click that icon to change the spell list from A to Z , to Z to A.

Otherwise, I just hotkey my go-to spells.

Huh? It doesn't go to the middle section though, it only goes one spell behind the current one. But it will pick the first spell if the highlighted spell is near the beginning... like if I last highlighted beguiling touch, it will highlight the very first spell even if beguiling touch is like 4 spells away from the beginning.

I don't mean middle section as in touch, target, self. I mean the middle of your list in your spells. I guess I don't see what you are talking about. This is what I see:

If my current spell is a custom spell called Void, and, say I equipped it, but I haven't used it yet. Then I use it, and open up the spell inventory to switch to another spell that is not already hot-keyed, the list jumps to the M - Z side of all my spells. And starts listing them at the M. It doesn't jump to the beginning of my list of spells, it jumps to the middle. And then it picks the first spell at the top of the list and highlights that. It never goes behind my current spell.

I'm confused now too. Hope the previous made sense. This middle spell picking for me by the game, only occurs when I have made a lot of custom spells. If I am playing a non to little magic user, I never run into this problem. I think it is related to the chest listing problem in concept.

Yeah, I'm not really good at explaining myself, which is why I tried using examples. Yeah, whatever spell is highlighted is the center of the spellbook menu, so i guess it does jump to the middle of the spells. Though, it doesn't matter if I use the spell or if I even have it equipped, as long as it's highlighted in the spell menu.

I'm gonna try use a clearer explanation. For example. The last thing in my spellbook menu that I had highlighted (I don't even have it equipped) is Heal. And you have Firebite behind Heal and Ice Touch in front of Heal.

So, my spellbook menu would look like this.

Charming Touch
Firebite
[Heal]
Ice Touch
Ice Blast

When I open up my spellbook menu again, it would still show that Heal is still highlighted, and Heal would still be in the center of the page, then it would suddenly highlight Firebite, and the page would move one spell up, so it looks like this now.

Calming Touch
Charming Touch
[Firebite]
Heal
Ice Touch

I hope this clears up any confusion with anyone.

I see. That 's odd. Is it that the cursor is highlighting it, but not selecting it? Or does it select it as well? I can highlight spells without selecting them, think: perusing my spell book. Though I can see how this would be annoying, especially if you are a heavy magic user. That's why I chimed in, as I am a heavy magic user atm, especially involving serious custom spells, and while I definitely see the "highlight-a-different-spell" issue, it doesn't select it for me, though it certainly is disconcerting to see the highlight over a spell you never selected in the first place.

Nah, it just highlights it, and it recenters the page so the highlighted spell is in the middle. But the glitch is gone, for now.
