More Screenies!

I run in to this with standard in-game captures. Some look fine as is, others not so fine. The not-so-fine shots get manipulated in PAINT.NET (and sometimes GIMP for more complicated corrections). PAINT's manual "level" control (not the automatic one, which produces horrid results with Oblivion captures) works wonders with most Oblivion images, restoring them to what I recall seeing on-screen during game-play. Since I invariably reduce image size to conserve storage space I also use PAINT to slightly sharpen the now shrunk views, as the reducing process tends to blur them. (I believe PhotoBucket automatically reduces images over certain size, but I prefer to keep control of the end result.)

Paint.net rocks.
And I run into quality issues with unretouched images with Skyrim, the initial jpg never looks as good as the ingame image...

The free Photobucket reduces large images to a width of 1024. The height limit is also 1024. Therefore, if you crop your image to 1024x1024, it will post at that size. Also, when you convert the Fraps bmp image to jpg, be sure to keep the conversion reduction factor at 90 or 95 or you will get a lot of jpg artifacts on edges making them fuzzy.

Edit: Also, Photobucket seems to resave a 1024 wide image again, further deteriorating the quality. I uploaded a pic that was 128 kb. When I downloaded it, it was 232 kb. Both had the same dimensions.

http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn303/Decrepit_Waste/ESIV%20Oblivion/SkingradHammerTongs1.jpg A second play-through image.

On the subject of image quality, be aware that JPG is a "lossy" format. Most any decent image editor has some sort of "quality slider" prominently displayed as part of the JPG save process. PAINT.NET certainly does. The slider allows you to choose the compromise between quality and file size that best suites you. I think I normally set mine at around 95 to 97%. For the most part this results in quite satisfactory postable views.

The caveat is that you always want to make sure that conversion to JPG is the very last thing you do, after resizing, cropping, color correction, image manipulation and so on. You want to do all those while still in a "lossless" format like BMP or PNG. Why? Each time a JPG is saved in loses quality. Say you have a JPG image. Your slider is at 95%. You crop the image and save. It's quality is reduced by 5%, no big deal. You next resize it and save. Your 95% quality image is reduced another 5%. You compensate for poor lighting in the original and save. Poof, another 5% loss. And so on. Why go through all that when you can just save conversion until last and suffer only a 5% loss (or whatever you set the slider to)?

What if the original is JPG or some other lossy format? Simple. First thing you do is convert it to a lossless format. Do all your editing. Then convert it back to JPG.

Of course a great many images need so little (if any) adjustment that they require only one save, making all this a moot point.

The one thing I don't like about Arborwatch is it's lack of a basemant! We need somewhere to store our wines ;) perhaps I'll need to download a mod ...

I didn't see any rules posted in the OP...there used to be a Scenics Only thread, but that was about 4 years ago :D
I'll just add two. I usually post on another forum.

Usually the only time I take a screenie of the IC is when I'm on my way to Bruma from Chorrol. There's a particular spot near a wooden bridge. There are two flowers (purple/white sort of like foxglove) right there as well.

That’s my multi level basemant mod made years ago. I add a room every once in a while. There are three NPCs that live down there that go through their daily routine. I have no control over them outside the CS. http://i1250.photobucket.com/albums/hh539/tmodel/Baa2012-04-1816-21-13-49.jpg in one of the rooms. They are about full, and I’m thinking of adding more. There are several basemant mods on Nexus IIRC. Oh, Baa doesn't store wines, she consumes them! Your little K bears got saved today, I saw on News.com.au. Nice.

I have dozens of pics of the IC, made from all around the compass. Since it’s in the center of things, I guess it gets picked on more than other vistas. Your shot of the IC was nice, but I really liked Angel. I can’t say she looks like someone I know, what with that freeze brand around her left eye, but she is very intriguing. Oh, there’s a waterfall close by that bridge you mentioned.

This I think is very true, it's difficult NOT to take a pic of it! I even have a pic of it from across in Skyrim...
