Something really weird just happened...

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 9:48 am

I was running from Anvil, to Bruma, just walking along... when all of a sudden... I got a notice in the top left of my screen that M'aiq the liar was unconscious. About 20 minutes later, she ran past me...

Anybody know what may have caused this?

That's what happens when "essential" characters get attacked.

I now wonder who would attack him. :bunny:
On another note, This topic is now about strange things, I played the game for ten hours straight yesterday, Well, I was able to go through most rocks, and some buildings!
Nothing a minor restart did not fix, but still kinda strange.

That is weird. What level is your game at? If it's packed full of minotaurs and ogres, M'aiq may have succumbed to these, or something worse.

Kinda off-topic, but I just ran across M'aiq in Skyrim. My character was on horseback, and being followed by a giant mammoth (really...it kept following us!) When we came across M'aiq, he immediately said "I don't want to get involved in this" and crouched down and hid!

I've only seen M'aiq once or twice in Oblivion (that I know of). He just runs way too fast. I've never been able to speak to him

I recently fast traveled to the market district in the Imperial City and when I got there I found one of the gate guards half buried in the sidewalk and when I questioned him he suddenly rose up out of the ground, ran his dialog on "rumors" and walked off....never had that happen in Oblivion before,Skyrim yes,Oblivion,no...

I've all of the above happen, Sky King, although not all at once. I even documented a lady stuck halfway into the ground in my Saga of Ann Thraxx story recently. Documented it with a picture, that is.

That's the first time I've encountered the "half sunken NPC" thing in Oblivion Renee,it was rather weird but I'm sure it won't be the last "oddity" I run into.I've just recently started trying my hand at modding my PC version,(I play on PS3 mostly) and am looking forward to up-grading Cyrodiil with some of the awesome mods available at nexus!

This is the first time I am using the CM partners mod. Sarah's companions regularly get trapped in City gates and in the middle of doorways with the door closed. Once, Sarah and Mandy exited a City gate and Mandy ended up holding a paint horse over her head.

Just keep going and they will always pop to you after 20 or 30 yards. Also, if they say something after going through a door, you need to talk to them and tell them to Follow. Other than those quirks, they do alright and are fun to have along - except when they shoot you in the back. CM Partner Piper2 is one of the best. Throw her clothes away and get her something decent, then have fun.

I've occasionally encountered a guard swimming in the garden of the great oak. It's rather unnerving when they just float there and smile at you. A few times I've seen a legion rider ride a 'Phantom Horse' and then suddenly disappear into the ground. This sort of stuff really freaks me out :P

The first time I found out about the paralyze bug in-game was a hoot. Suddenly taffy guards everywhere.

Not mine but this one always cracked me up:

Try outside of Anvil or Leyawiin if you want to talk to him. He stands idle there for a bit sometimes.

It's Ni! Not seen you around here since you nicked my turtle in the quiz thread

As for my own "weird thing", when playing Skarsgard's game I saw an Imperial Forrester lose his bow and instead try to punch to death/ drown a deer in a pond. I was worried he'd drown himself, so I finished off the deer for him. It was near the inn of Ill Omen if anyone remembers me telling that tale.

Who could forget Skarsgard and Forrester! I love that picture of him grinning.

I have a vague memory of a clannfear in the IC Market District on my first clueless playthrough. I still don’t know how that could have happened, unless there was a Gate on the island and clannfears can open doors. At the time I didn’t know it was weird. I just suddenly felt very unsafe! There was a widespread brawl from which my character fled. I think it killed the guy who owns Stonewall Shields.

a clannfear in the IC Market District
This happens every so often. There are Clannfear spawn points in the Imperial City. They are only supposed to be activated during the climactic battle at the end of the main quest. Sometimes the game activiates these spawns when it shouldn't.

Sometimes the game does a lot of things that it shouldn't.

I remember this too :) But I can′t really remember anything weird happening in my game just now. I know there are a few of those moments though...
