What was the worst scare you had in fallout nv?

Nightkins in REPCON; coupled with headphones in the dark with my stealthy character, I was clearly mistaken trying to get the jump on these "demons".

Probably the first Tunneler encounter in Lonesome Road.
The lift sequence for me (is that the first encounter of Tunnelers?). There were more difficult encounters, but this was the one that actually terrified me.

When I stepped into a broken down bus to loot it, on an overpass, in the Divide... I never made it out alive. There were no enemies for miles. Suddenly, out of no-where, this Deathclaw shows up and blocks my exit. Next time my game loaded, I made it out, ran backwards, while shooting at the DC and... lost my footing. I fell off the overpass to my death. Yup, wasn't pretty, I think I finally killed that svcker after 4 tries. LOL

DC's are my mortal enemies and I will not rest before I exterminate them ALL! (At least there are no Reavers in NV, well one, but I killed it) LOL

Oh yea, being swarmed by Tunnelers in that cave wasn't pretty either... -.-
Yeah I remembered how that exact bus spawns a deathclaw on top of it when you go inside it. But for me the worst scare I had in NV was when my game froze for 20 seconds after wandering around the Mojave for 2 hours.

Tunnelers are easily the scariest creatures for me. In fact, I just beat LR the second time around today and I had a jumping-outta-my-clothes moment.

Here we go:

  1. First encounter with tunnelers in the Collapse Tunnel

  2. The lift ride in LR

  3. First DC encounter in LR

  4. Getting well acquainted with the Tunneler Queen. Too well. Actually, this was one of the few (maybe only) times I've been outright killed by creatures in NV.

  5. Seeing Cass be overwhelmed with Cazadors when traveling to the second sacked caravan in her quest.

  6. The entire lab that houses the unique Cazador in OWB.

  7. Meeting Stripe the first time.

  8. DM maintained a good level of scary but never had any jump moments.

I hate exploring that vault. I can pretty much one shot them so they are no threat to me. But the jump scare! svcks that I couldn't spam VATS to find them hiding.

Meh. I just walk up to every little jungle-dirt patch with the riot shotgun cocked and ready, and you just blow them into ortho-mulch before they can even finish standing up. No problem.

I loaded an old save file and a dead Deathclaw spawned in front of me before exploding. Scared the hell out of me.

And I've got to agree with the Deathclaw in walking into the train cart behind you in the Divide. :sadvaultboy:

It was not as frightening when I was using a flamer on my EW courier. Just sprayed any little green patch of grass with fire. Every plant zombie got toasted!

Coming back to vault 22 after I thought I'd cleared it. I'm walking around, relaxed when BAM! Apparently I'd missed a spore carrier from before... It just made a noise then charged. Luckily I had my assault carbine, and the thing went down before it hit me but I had to pause the game and take a break, I was so shaken up.

When I was wandering in Lone Road and a powder charge went off.

I had this happen to be a few times, but with hidden satchels on the road, or me doing something else and getting ambushed by powder gangers throwing dynamite. The sudden load explosion can sometimes make me almost jump out of my chair.

On my current playthrough, Arcade has a nasty habit of teleporting. After telling him to wait in the novac hotel room, I went to go pay the Brotherhood a visit. After emerging from the bunker, I had the nasty suprise of seeing arcade's marker at the top of black mountian (which I had neglected to clear out at this point). Since I play DiD hardcoe, It's an understatement to say I was frazzled. I made a mad dash for the summit from hidden valley, armed only with lucky and my gecko-backed leather armor, This resulted in me arriving just in time to save arcade from dieing at the hands of anabelle, and with 6-10 crazy supermutants behind me. In a glorious fit of luck (and after retrieveing the Q-35 from gannons inventory) we both survived, standing amoung the corpses of supermutants. It's probably the most memorable moment i've had in ~400 hours of playing.

Fighting a deathclaw along then ruined Interstate road, knocked off the cliff I was fighting on, and onto the road, by some miracle I survived the fall, I did not, however, survive the swarm of Cazadores I fell into.
