Undead: Rise from Death Problem"

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 2:06 am

So, before doing the Andrano tomb quest, I joined the Imperial Cult in Pelagiad and purchased a restore strength (as per npc advice) and a blessed touch spell from the priestess there. The Blessed Touch spell (with which I was having problems) was something along the lines of "turns undead 100 points for 10 seconds". In any case, getting right to the chase, I cast it on almost every enemy in the dungeon multiple times, and every single time it was resisted and had no effect. Is this just because of my relatively low conjuration skill? It says it has a 100 percent chance of casting, and it cast every single time. So what gives?

I noticed the same thing with Undead:Arise from Death running. Also some undead resist Absorb Health too; I assume that the mod adds resist magicka to undead.

A little too much, I'd gather. What use is a turn undead spell if all of the undead resist it?

Yea, not a fan of the sweeping balance change this mod makes by removing individual immunities and adding damage reduction to all forms of magic to every undead. Casters already have to deal with reflect. It's easy to change in the editor though.

I would guess it is due to the fact the Undead in Undead arise are actually NPCs. Only creatures can be Type "Undead". It's give and take, guys. You either have armor wearing NPCs that look like skeletons and such, or you have Undead creatures who can't wear armor. That's either a limitation of the game or just how the mod is written, I can't be sure, but I do know you cannot mark an NPC as Undead and the "turn undead" spell doesn't work on NPCs.

Oh, that only means I need to use demoralize and calming spells then. I was wondering why the author didn't mention changes to resistances in his readme. The answer was sitting in front of my face the entire time.

Its still a bit of a shame, though, since that spell type is no longer viable.

It will still work against summoned undead, but I don't recall running into a lot of those before Tribunal.

Yea, the NPC thing is one thing but all undead in the mod have a spell effect on them with 100% resist magicka among other things. Even the undead that aren't npcs.
