Would you like to see a player's character's mouth moving wh

I think that it would be a great idea!

It will make the game be even more advanced and realistic.

(this excludes characters wearing masks)

I don't think it's needed. Would be more animating and would take some resources to make this. In the little cinematics before the map to tell the story it's a must, but ingame while playing, no thanks.

the programming it would take to complete that just isnt worth it. id rather have that time used to polish more of the game.

yeah it would cool for about 2 min. then it would mean nothing.

Seems like a waste of dev time to me. Are you planning on watching each other talk since you certainly won't be seeing it. :spotted owl:

Well I was just thinking of more unique features the game could have.

agree, with a good idea.
i'm sure, it would be a nice feature. but i don't like unnecessary features in a game, wich take free ressources, and get the performance down.
but when they can handle it with a fine performance - why not? or implement as a choosable feature.
nice anyway for numb people :)

That would take far more resources than making female avatars and there was not enough for even that. So no, I want them to make the best game they can with the resourse they have. And I think it will be enough to make most of us very happy.

Voice chat or vocalizes? But you should be asking: Do you want the game to have higher system requirements and be delayed even more? The videos have made it clear that this is a fast paced game just like Wolf ET. There would hardly be a moment to admire the extra animation. And then there's the fact that a lot of people will be wearing masks or helmets anyways. This is around the same lines as taunting finishing moves.

Having the characters mouth move for the pre set emotes, yes.

It would also be nice to have it for voice chat like they did in Rainbow 6 Las Vegas, it was a simple open and close of the mouth, nothing fancy. Interesting feature, secondary animation like that really adds flavor to a game. No where near as resource heavy as it would be for a female avatar.

Animations - Mouth Open position, mouth closed position

the code in English could look like this

On voice chat ON - start
at X frequency(player voice volume) play Mouth Open position
At X frequency play Mouth Closed position
On voice chat OFF - stop

There would be a few more line to included the player's voice chat settings for the frequency, but I think that would be about it.

pretty much, also if someone on my team is talking im probably not going to look at them (doesnt mean im not listening) but watching him talk is just a good way to get shot in the ass

It'd look funny if the mouth movements weren't in sync with our voices and in order to pull that off, it's going to take some work.

I've only ever seen Gold Source engine games doing this. And that was because the mouth was either open or closed at any time. No subtle lip syncing. I doubt it could be done particularly well with the kind of graphics they are going for.

In a perfect world with infinite room on the disk this would happen, as it stands I don't really care. If this is being done, great, just don't delay the game for it.
