WARNIG NOT HEEDED!

Post » Tue Nov 24, 2009 2:13 am

Hello,

I and many others have discussed the neccesity of dedicated servers for large lobby games, including on this forum. I've repeatedly WARNED many game developers that (most) household connections DO NOT support large amounts of players via P2P!

So far I've had ONE great session with 16 players, most other games start to lag when you hit 8 players or above. I know some connections may get 10 or 12 players without any problem, but definately not 14 or 16 players!
And NO I don't have a crappy connection myself and YES I've been playing close servers.

As such Brink is just one of those great games which wil be forgotten because people hate laggy sessions and just give up.

ALL I ASK FOR IS THE ABILITY TO CHOSE OR CREATE A PLAYLIST OR LOBBY WITH THE AMOUNT OF PLAYERS I THINK WILL WORK!!!

Thanks in advance,
Nos

We must remember. The devs know more than the players. Warning someone smarter than you, in a topic they have studies for years, sounds...

What kind of reply is that, I was just pointing it out again that the LAG is a big issue. Of course I know they already know this. But the only way they will take it seriously is when enough threads complain about it.
It is also more a warning for future buyers who are roaming this forum. If they don't solve the problem and those people don't find 'Problem solved' threads, they won't buy the game.
On the last section I provided a decent solution, which I know is easily implemented.

If there is just one thread on the LAG issue do you think they are gonna take it seriously?

I am playing a lot of Old Skool know, because there are less players and no bots, so also less lag. It has friendly fire and fewer players, usually in unfair teams. But it's definatly the better of two evils.

can't agree more.

my ISP tests north of 50Mbs 99.9% of the time (ping 10 or less) no reason I should see any lag. it's extremely annoying. not sure it is the lack of lobbies that is causing the issue but "it" needs to get fixed sooner then later.

Consoles are not build to be used as a server to have at least 15 people playing on it. If so, everybody had to upgrade his PS3 in order to stand a server. But i do not know anything about that.

Meh lag is in pretty much any MP game especially in the couple of weeks after it release. Hell CODBO still has lag and that game has been out for a while and still has a bunch of fools playing it. Not saying dedicated servers are bad but they have their cons also. I have hopped into many games that dont have lag and a few that had horrible lag. I try to play mostly with other real people so I play old skool, competition, and big teams and I have played 8 v8 that wasn't laggy at all. Hopefully the next patch will take care of a lot of the lag as well as making the MM better. Only time will tell though

I very rarely experience any lag :\ I play on servers multiple timezones away typically, and I don't have a super connection either though it isn't bad. Ping on most servers is usually around 50-60 for me, every now and again (once every couple days) I'll have about 10 or 15 seconds of bad lag, rubberbanding and the like. Then it all goes away and I'm fine again.

I don't know, I see a lot about this problem and I've never experienced it :\ I'm just lucky I guess.

Some games are laggy and some are not. When it is laggy it's really bad lag and after it's done you see everyone walking against a wall or in front of someone that kills you... I hate the lag is this game, but I still love the concept. It's too bad that it is laggy because I already know a lot of people that returned the game because of that reason.

It seems to be a trend that most of the complaints are coming from console players. I personally own Brink on both PC and 360 and I honestly can't see how you can stand to play Brink on a gamepad. There are certainly some games I use a gamepad for on PC such as assassins creed, but brink on a controller is horrible imo. I've kind of gotten used to it, but the less laggy and better controlling PC version is where it's at.

yeah would be nice if it was possible to see if the server was a dedicated one or simply a pc running it from somewhere

Well note to myself, il remember to ad dedicated server into our servername.
