"there are four DLC expansions already in various stages

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 4:22 am

I found an article on the internet that says a close source to Bethesda says there are 4 DLCs not including DM in the works, which means he said there are going to be 5 DLCs. Any word on this? The article was published in January, so I'm sorry if it has since been disproven.

Thinking about it now, I'm more than certain it's false

No, this article is totally false and should not be taken as fact. Lonesome Road is the last DLC unless Obsidian/Bethesda negotiate for more, which is unlikely considering Skyrim will be released in a few months.

There's been rumors that there'll be a expansion. Don't know how true this is.

Firstly, saying 'a source close to Bethesda' is as close to saying 'I made it up based on unsubstatiated rumours' as you can get.

Especially when you factor in this part

A reliable source close to Bethesda Softworks, speaking on the condition of anonymity due to their not being authorized to discuss the matter with the press,

The oldest way of saying 'I made it up' Nobody is going to risk their job talking to some internet nobody about something they probably signed an NDA regarding.

Second, his math is waaaaay off.

has confirmed that there are four DLC expansions already in various stages of completion not including Dead Money, with two additional DLC being considered for a total of 8 expansions to the game over the next two years.

So, Dead Money + four more expansions + two more = eight in total? I think he'll find that 1+4+2=7.

edit: Also DLC released over the course of two years? By that time everyone will be busy with Skyrim and the prime DLC selling period will be long passed. The delays we've had so far haven't been that bad lol

Not to say I'm expecting anything after LR, but didn't Beth give Oblivion the fighter's stronghold like a year after FO3 was released?

I think i read some where that it due for release before Shivering Ilses, but technical problems left them shelving it before eventually releasing it some time later. Fairly certain it was before FO3 though.

I'll go do a little looking into that.

edit: Fighters Stronghold was released October 2007 (A year after Oblivion, and a year before FO3) Was also going to be call Dragonfire Castle originally, apparently name still exists in the DLC files. Was rumored to be coming back in 2006

Devs have already stated that LR is the last one they've got unless Bethesda wants more and there haven't been any talks about it, so unless Bethesda decides to start pumping out new vegas dlc which seems highly unlikely given their current work load and stance of letting Obsidian make the dlc for the game they made its not going to happen. At this point Bethesda is starting to focus on Skyrim and new releases and probably the next fallout game I don't see them further supporting new vegas after LR is out.

Well actually the main develpor or whoever(ugh his name escapes me at the moment) said on his twitter page that if this is the last planned but if there was a lot of demand for it then he'd be game to make more

Ugh it's on an article in the fallout wiki in an another article but I couldnt find it, but I did find it in my history but when I clikck it it says I need to make a twitter and I have no desire to do it xD
Knowing that the only twitter ever talked about on the wiki is Chris Avelllone I'm guessing it was from him

The article is complete bull unfortunately.
As for the supposed 8 DLCs we already have 7 of them
4 of them are actually pre-ordered dlc packs that you get for pre-ordering the game with various groups. (Mercenary, Tribal, Classic, and Caravan packs)
Then we have the 4 known content adding dlcs: Dead Money, Honest Hearts, Old World Blues, and of course the last one Lonesome Road.

I would say its possible we will have more DLC available, the pre-order packs for $1 each. Beyond that nope NV is done.
