"strobing" camera?

Having a weird problem with my current Oblivion setup. My camera has begun "strobing" between two different views any time 1) I cast a spell, 2) am struck by a weapon, spell, or arrow, 3) take damage from falling. The second view seems to be quite random - often a scene from minutes ago! In one example, I was attacked by wolves and found the camera strobing between myself and a guard on horseback I had spoken two several minutes ago and way up the road, nowhere in current view.

My game has quite a few mods installed, all as OMODs and, where possible, bashed. I've been trying to peel some of them out bit by bit, and sometimes I can solve the problem temporarily by just yanking random mods, but it always comes back within a few minutes, so I clearly haven't found the root of the problem yet. I have tried reinstalling Oblivion, but it didn't help. I could probably post a mod list if it would help anyone help me... thanks.

I don't know how to generate an OBSE list, but I have: Elyx_USV, EnhancedMusicControl, FastExit2, Pluggy v125 w/HUD, Elys Uncapper, MenuQue, Oblivion Stutter Remover, vipcxj plugin collection, weocps

Not reflected in either list: HGEC Body with BBB, Correana's Maximum Compat. skeleton, NoMaam 3.0 animations, Stylish Jump, Natural Walk, Operation Optimization textures

Now, I began stripping out mods (some of the current INACTIVES). I stripped out Atropa and Crowded Roads Revisited, both of which fixed the problem TEMPORARILY, but it came back pretty quickly...

I hear that if you're total of esps+esms+bsas is more than 400 weird things can start to happen. Do you use BOSS? Other than that I don't know what to tell you because I've never heard of anything like this.

Run BOSS on your Load Order, You should check the website where You downloaded the lovers mods for a list of a known working Load Order for them. You should only a few mods that go after a Bashed Patch, two of them are the lovers anim priority esp's and another one is Vtoy.esp, because of how the eye are assigned in the mod.
I have no idea what is causing the animation issues, You can try using PM's to contact other posters with this issue to find out what your Load Orders have in common, and this thread is a good place for them to be posted for comparison.

I do use BOSS, yes, and then manually move vtoy and lover*.esp below the bashed patch. The former is done because if I don't I get googly eyes, regardless of what I do or do not include in the bashed patch, and the latter because that's what's recommended (and I have all of those disabled now anyway).

Well, for now I'll continue slowly stripping things out and see what happens... but it was all working so well for a while...

Done. To my surprise I was still able to load my saved game without problem, but got a CTD as soon as I struck a guard. So I tried a new game - no dice, as soon as I took damage I had camera strobing.

It has been suggested this is either an animation issue or a skeleton issue. I have tried removing all .kf animation files, but that has not helped. Tried removing skeleton.nif from my first person meshes folder - no good (and caused other problems). Actually, I accidently loaded an autosave from my new game and then reloaded a position where I could punch a guard in the face, and I was getting strobing views from the imperial sewer!

You've mentioned you've heard of no common cause - how about uncommon causes?

I sent you the PM because you are using some mods that can not be discussed on this website, I actually know the skeleton removal problems.
On your FCOM install, You are using the Gems and Gem dust plugins with FCOM, you want to remove these plugins from your install, and use the Diverse Runeskulls plugin for OOO instead.
The Exnem Runeskulls has been incorporated into MMM/FCOM, so dropping this will free an esp slot. You do not want to use the FCOM-Cobl plugin with the latest version of MMM (3.73).
You want to use the full version of OOO 1.33 and update it to 1.34, Could you repost your Load Order using Wrye Bash? That way there will be version numbers attatched to your mods.

When I said Skeleton issues, it might be because one or two mods were made for a different skeleton than one based off of Corroneras. For your Load Order, you need the skeleton you are using.

Problem (MAYBE) solved.

It was suggested that the problem may have had to do with OBGE, one of the plugins for OBSE. I think I installed it because I was originally using DR6 instead of DR5 (I'm not clear if DR5 requires it, I still need to look into that.

I don't know what most of that means, but I understand the words "error" and "not supported." (and the fact that "ignoring" is spelled wrong is a tad alarming as well) I renamed my OBGE plugin to OBGEv2.dll.bak and tried again - no weird strobing. But I've gotten the game not to strobe before by removing random stuff, so we'll just have to see....
